The cockpit is comming together with K gass tank and pump fitted, panel painted and compass tray and lower bulkhead fitted.:)
I have no details of the recovery but the aircraft was Tempest V NV648. The aircraft was on an armed reconnaissance when it suffered an engine failure and Flt/Lt Dashwood was forced to bail out to the south west of Constantine.
Information from Fighter Command losses 1944/1945.

Thanks Kev I have a copy of the ORB somewhere its the recovery i am really interested in just wanted to know if the wreckage is still around.
Panel
I don’t know about the panel itself although i have seen similar patterns. The ASI on the top right 480 MPH is correct for the Spitfire as is the turn and slip below it. The climb and descend on the far lower left is post war and used in Meteors and probably other early jets, its the same diameter as the war time version. The 600 Knots is also post war and used in Jets. The T&S looks American but not sure?. So the panel has 2 ASIs and is missing an altimeter and the directional indicator.
I think you might be thinking of the Jindivik target drone and control desk. We have it at Boscombe Down.
Yes you are probably right one drone is the same as another to me.:)
Does anyone know what happened to the airworthy Meteor drone from Llanbedr?
I know the other one went to the museum at Bentwaters, but what happened to the flyer?

Bruce
When i picked up the Anson from there about two years ago it was still there with all the control equipment, he didnt want much for it but i didnt have the room, I could probably find his email if you are seriously interested.
By the way the Anson may be back on the market I think he’s looking to swap something smaller for it.
Yes I’m new here so I apologise to any one who found my suggesting offensive. But standing in the hanger at Coningsby on Thursday the 6th September. I just felt that if they ever got one flying again, that’s where it should be at. The lotto is not a bad idea even if it was to be a replica.
Its a great idea have a look at this. Its the donating bit i don’t like:D
I dont think this question has been specifically covered before.
I was playing devils advocate a little. Truth is, there are not many airframes, outside of national collections that could be considered for return to flight.
RR299 was to be operated by BBMF, but was destroyed shortly before that was due to take place.
Perhaps you would consider why anyone (or group of people) would wish to spend £3M plus on an aircraft to donate to BBMF?
Bruce
LOL:D

It Shut down about 3 or 4 years ago:(
Good Luck to Redhill
No one laments the decline of the aero jumbles more than me and I have admit I trade on the internet and I think so do allot of the other members of this forum. Its not just airo jumbles that have suffered a steady decline allot of business have gone. It’s the sad face of progress that we can’t have our cake and eat it; one by one traders I have met at airojumbles have turned to the web. Lets face it without the web we wouldn’t have this forum to complain about it. Good luck to Redhill and i hope they do well.
