Thanks for the info, chaps.
Surely the case would lie within the jurisdiction of the Service Prosecuting Authority rather than the Crown Prosecution Service, John?
I would imagine that he’ll be found guilty at the retrial (an offence does appear to have taken place, and no-one is above the law) but that clemency will be shown.
I can’t imagine that he’ll be seeing the inside of the glasshouse again any time soon, if ever.

Grey Area
Because the term ‘Chair’ is widespread, doesn’t make it correct. It is one of those not so fashionable terms beloved of lefties.
And where did I say it was ‘correct’? Or ‘incorrect’, for that matter.
I just said the term was in widespread use, which it is.
These lefties of yours, John. Do they live under your bed by any chance?

If you are unhappy about the label of PCism which hangs around the necks of ‘lefties’ like a grubby, unwashed tee shirt; trying to trash the arguments of those opponents who present convincing, irrefutable and well established rebuttals to the usual PC tirade of: ‘racist’, ‘bigot’, ‘denier’ etc. makes you look foolish to an extreme.
Just accept that the ‘left’ is what it is. Just accept that it is a fact of life that will go on until socialism becomes as unacceptable as fascism or communism to which it is closely related.
Oh, this is a classic.
“…hangs around the necks of ‘lefties’ like a grubby, unwashed tee shirt;” – Wonderful stuff. You should be writing for the TV, John.
Your stuff is a damn sight funnier that most of the rubbish served up on the idiot box. 😀
Sorry to disagree John but in my days on committees, in discussion about the role as opposed to an individual, the terms chairman and chairwoman were used regularly and without favour. This was long before the adoption of the lump of wood.
The term ‘chair’ does seem to be in fairly widespread use these days.
Mind you, thinking of some of the people who chair the meetings I have the misfortune to attend I have to conclude that an item of furniture probably wouldn’t do a much worse, job.

I must have missed this one first time around, I have to admit.
Did he have the guns and ammo in his possession, and did he have the proper legal authority to hold them?
If not, I’m presuming there were some fairly major mitigating factors.

I’m asking you to define the opinions and ideas you mentioned above.
So it’s okay for use to reference those opinions and ideas, but not anyone who dare disagree with you?
Actually, I think you’ll find that it was you who first made mention of this elusive list of ideals in post #37, and that I’ve asked you more than once for a definition.
Or are you saying that the “PC” environment does not exist and all who reference (or belive in ) it are far right “wackos”…?:D
I’m saying that it’s a shorthand portmanteau term for ‘ideas and opinions that a given individual does not like’ – in much the same sense as the teeth-grindingly annoying term ‘haters’ that you mentioned earlier. I also specifically stated that I don’t think it is the exclusive province of the Right, which you seem to have overlooked.
It’s a good method to derail an argument, just ask for proof, definitions and citations until everyone else gives up.:D:diablo:
Asking for evidence to back up assertions is derailing an argument? I think not.
It’s just a reverse of the old anti-communist days where everyone to the left of center was a “commie”.
Which, if you could just put your knee-jerk reaction to the user ID ‘Grey Area’ to one side for a moment, is exactly what I have been saying. I have seldom been agreed with so vehemently. 🙂
Stuart H – you’re just being silly now.

To the best of my knowledge I am not related to Lady Thatcher, and I am constantly plagued by self-doubt.
Did you have a point that you wished to make?

The Swiss cannot even agree on a common language!
I think it’s called ‘money’, isnt it? 🙂
