Oh, and the actual quote from your posting was “While the U.S. bore the majoity of fighting in the UN sanctioned war in Korea, the UK was still fighting rebels in various colonial outposts.” The clear inference being that the UK was looking after her own interests while leaving the US to carry the fight in Korea.

In terms of the forces actually available to the respective nations (and the difference in size of the respective populations) the contribution of the UK was proportionately comparable to that of the USA, although clearly the US contribution was hugely the greater in terms of pure numbers.

If you’re referring to the mounds by the perimeter fence on the Cheshire side of the airport, near 24L/06R, then unless you’re in a car or on a bike it’s a bus to the Viewing Park or train ride to Styal and then a VERY long walk. 😮
