In an ideal world maybe, but the low-life doing the smashing up are not always found, or don’t have the financial means to put right their damage.

So your answer is to arbitrarily deem someone else to be guilty of these crimes, and punish them instead.

Which makes no sense, and makes a mockery of the rule of law and due process.

The only reasonable course of action is to identify the guilty individuals, and bring them to justice – which is exactly what the authorities are doing.

I have to say that I struggle with this sort comment or “humour”.

In fairness, there does seem to have been a fair amount of “mission creep”.

Rights and wrongs notwithstanding, we seem to be moving away from establishing and policing a no-fly zone to protect threatened civilians into a situation of being an active belligerent in a civil war.

There seems to be a general assumption that the eventual winners will turn out to be to the West’s liking.

Let’s hope it isn’t another assumption that comes back to bite us.
