It may still be worth comparing the accident rate for the EF with the Rafale. ๐
Sure. Especially if we compare the number of actual combat missions flown, too. :diablo:
It’s an unfortunate loss (especially since there aren’t many Rafales M in service…) but of fighter planes, only those who don’t use them, don’t lose them.
DK :
Tehran or Pyongyang ? ๐
Cheers .
I’d lean towards Pyongyang, since they’re actual crazies (unlike the Iranians who are mostly posturing loudl in a region where it’s the national sport) and deserve a regime change.
Of course it’d be awesome to send the CdG over there ๐
The naval Scalp is a hell of a missile , I don ‘t understand why nobody is buying it in small numbers but France …
1000km range , perfectly autonomous (no need GPS) , both radar and IR seeker , 1m precision , really stealthy (it can ‘t be detected by AWACs even American ones) .
A real beast ๐Cheers .
Oh, it’s just coming into service life. Plenty of time to show what it’s worth and get foreign buyers !
Good to see an indigenous European ABM system making progress !
The F-22 is a BVR Interceptor , not a dogfighter even if it has one of the best agility around if not the best .
Cheers .
More like, it’s a very good dogfighter but using it in that role would be a waste (and a risk since it’s not as advantaged in that configuration).
LPI isn’t a panacea either. Improvements in signal processing power for eg. means even LPI radars won’t stay “undetectable” forever, if that’s even the case today.
What a shame about the streetlight. It would have been superb if they had pulled the landing off with no damage.
But they walked away from it I gather – so a satisfactory, if not perfect, ending
Moggy
Yeah, too bad about the streetlight. Hopefully the plane’s repairable.
From batteries?
IIRC such pods have little windmilling propellers in front that generate electricity in flight.
Second squadron of F-35s is โan offer hard to refuseโ
By YAAKOV KATZ
11/15/2010 02:06In an effort to convince the Netanyahu government to impose a three-month moratorium on settlement construction in the West Bank, the Obama administration offered Israel last week a long list of security and diplomatic benefits, including 20 F-35s for free.
:eek::eek::eek: DID THEY SAY FREE!???111
20 modern fighters for free is indeed an offer hard to refuse ๐
Hey America, could I have one for my flying club too ? :p
Dear MadRat,
Most Brazilians like spending money with parties, and that may be a good thing :).
Best!
Maybe they’ll have a Rafale on parade next Carnival, with a thong between the engines. ๐ฎ
What wrong has Boeing done?
Doesnt Pak have any french weaponsystem?
They do but they paid for them. AFAIK.

On subject : cross-qualifications of JDAM and AASM/Hammer is one of the most interesting possibilities.
Shouldn’t this be in the dedicated Rafale thread ?
Read in A&C that two Reco-NG pods (loaned by the AdA) will be embarked on the CdG for its up-and-coming cruise. They’ll be used by Rafales to provide recon over Afghanistan.
Because they’re not totally the 51st State yet ?
