No it wasnt (it was used as Chrismas Tree to get others flying) so no it wouldnt. And in any case where would you fly her to? EF doesnt have enough runway so Glasgow or Edinburgh then, and what do you have to do to get her to EF….that’ll be cut the wings off then 🙁
Correction!!
I did the sums a while back before I knew that the EF Conc couldnt fly and the result were that:-
EF would have had enough runway IF they opened up the Microlight runway and removed the fences and roundabout on the EF to North Berwick road. And removed the fences and tyres from the Racetrack and Pits area.
A lot of work but it would have been possible. And even then they would have had to strip all weight from the aircraft and perhaps even a fuel dump to land there.
VERY VERY TIGHT but it was possible.
Never say never.
Interesting that this is being discussed on Historic? Exactly 365 days ago Concorde was still very much an in service airliner and operating it’s 2nd last day of commercial service (sniff). :p
Brand new aircraft or rusty old buckets of crap.
Concorde was ALWAYS a historic aircraft.
Even when it was first built.
Also agree with everything Radararchive had said about East Fortune.
Just wish they would wake up and smell the coffee really.
Hi Daz,
If you still have the plans and mags etc etc. I am more than interested and can pick them up any time really if its at night or weekend. Weekend preferable.
Also you know I do models so all mags would get read and plans more than likely used.
PM on its way.

Trust me I know from dealing with aforementioned MOD.
The place to contact is the local police station and from there they will contact the MOD to deal with it or the local police firearms team will come and take it away in a steel ammo box.
If there is a lot of it the MOD would probably want to investigate why there is so much though.

Glad to know people have heard of the site and use the database.
Thanks guys.
Nice to know I got it right this time.
Thanks J.V. Glad to know someone liked them.
Always been interested,
I was at Strathallan on a show day but seriously too young to remember. I do however remember being taken through an aircraft cabin???
Dont know what it was though. Definately Strathallan though.
Got seriously into planes a few years ago on reading Johnnie Johnson’s Wing Leader.
Hooked ever since.
bump so the weekenders can see it more easily
Thanks guys,
Glad you liked the site.
Any problems with the site or corrections just let us know.

Crazy Mainer,
I have only skimmed the surface of what the other posts said as I dont have time to read all of them at the moment but I would urge you to stay with us because your opinions and views are very important to all of us and those who ask or wish you to leave becasue of this need to get a life.
I understand where you are coming from on the “New Build” aspect of things but to have a true warbird you really need a substanial part of the aircrfat there already. I belive it has been suggested that a firewall or dataplate section can be enough to start a build.
Does anyone know more on this subject.
But what is really wrong in Britain is there are those who do and those who dont. Those who do (own or rebuild Warbirds) have enough money to make it happen. And those who Dont mostly dont have the money to rebuild or fly warbirds but we do research them or collect part etc etc. Hell I have even known a couple of guys to dress up in period flying kit and reenact scenes of days gone by.
But it all comes down to MONEY in the end which a lot of us dont have.
******If you want to start preserving YOUR HISTORY then may I suggest you get a group together and go out and start recovering these Historical Aircraft*********posted by CRAZYMAINER
If it were that easy then we would all be doing it.
Also depends on where you want to source the parts and the there is the slight problem of cost which the majority of us brits simply dont have.
Sorry to disappoint you Merlin 3945 but the Sea Fury and Sea Hawk have both vanished from the list of flying aircraft for Leuchars 😡
Alas it was not to be.
Thanks for that Bucc driver.
I like the little bit of small writing in the bottom of the list
Aircraft Participation may be subject to change.
Im sure that wasnt there before but hey thats airshow life for you.
I notice on the civlian flying front we have picked up a pitts and 2 yaks great for me to watch as this is my favourite type of flying “aerobatic”.
Hopefully there will be 4 Typhoons there as advertised.
Don’t know about the Sea Fury, but the out-of-hours movements page on the Royal Navy website lists a Sea Fury as being at Leeming on the 11th of September. This was last updated on Friday.
Yes I read about 4 typhoons meant to be there but as far as I know only one flying the rest are static.
And I am as confident as I can be about the Sea Fury. I had emailed the Airshow crew and they said “The Sea Fury is still planning to attend the airshow”
As I said as confident as I can be.
