If your going for the PDF route then you are probably better off spreading it over months or years of service to save having a big PDF file.

Just to add some more information to the accident of Lt Bissell and Lt Bragg.

31/10/1918:- Setting off in Bristol F2b Serial B8942, on a bombing raid over the German Fleet, while climbing out from East Fortune stalled and entered a side slip. Crashed upon which a bomb exploded killing both men.

This would seem to tie up the reason both men were buried in the same plot in the cemetery.

Is there any way of telling where the German fleet were at the time of this raid and possibly what the fleet consisted of that day?

Is the any way of knowing any more information of this raid?

There is a bit of information out there about the Group Captain Tim.

I think he was a Squadron Leader at the time of this incident already having been burnt once before. Such courage.

Indeed I can confirm too that the tip structure of the wing was partly made of wood. There are also straps of wood found in the cocpit and fuselage at various points.

Why not drop them into museum at Yeovilton. I am sure they would gladly sell them on and split the value between a prostrate charity and themselves. Better than not doing anything with them.

    Kev,

Thank you for still caring and remembering all these years later.

I myself have no one such individual that I visit each year but each year I choose and activity to carry out in remeberance.

Last year it was a visit to the crash site of Spitfire AR403 where we had our silence.

The year before that it was a visit to the memorial of the Ferny Ness accident in which a number of naval ratings and bus driver were killed. 14 or 16 people I cant remember which. We ended up trimming all the bushes and trees back and edging the grass around the pavement. I can assure you it the best the memorial has looked in years.

This year I plan to visit Athelstaneford Parish Churchyard in which 3 members of RAF are buried. They died between 1918 and 1919. Probably all flying from East Fortune.

One thing that strikes me about this thread is how cooperative all the posters were at the time. Something that I havent seen repeated often on this forum since. I too remember this thread with interest and it is wonderful to see that hasnt been forgotten.

I wonder if anyone else will pick up on this thread in another 3 or 4 years or maybe even 10 or 20 years.

Thanks for that guys most interesting.

Its funny how if something is not your forte you tend not to look things up. However a chance find such as this might spark a lot of interest.

Thanks again some famous names indeed.

I am getting the live feed through my wireless no problem. It does come in and out.

Apparently the BBC are doing a docu to be shown in about a month.

That’s interesting seeing as it’s on my doorway. I was told a few years ago that there where 26 air crashes within a 3 mile air radius of Bassett by an historian. I often wonder whether this is true.

I would think that figure would be a decent ball park figure but could possibly be even more.

Mind you given that its only a 3 mile radius that is quite a high number.
