RE: The Washington Sniper —- Death???
Hi All
Wombat I agree that they should be hanged or some other form of execution fitting to the suffering that they caused their victims and their families. But I do respect Geforces thoughts and feelings on this he obviously feels very strongly about this. As you will know here in Britain we dont have a Death sentance any more. I think they should reinstate this but only in the case of very very strong proof this means that physical evidence would have to be used along with any other evidence to get a conviction. But a persons confession could not be used incase he was forced to sign it.
Geforce I respect you wishes about this subject but be aware that others have thoughts and feelings on this subject too that may be just as strong as yours. Also just because Wombat wants to see them publicaly hanged I dont think this makes him sick just a strong believer in corporal punishment. I also think some kind of public humiliation should be used before they are executed but the actual act of execution should be private with the witnesses and families if they wish to attend.
I personally would take them both to the desert and have sniper shoot bits of their bodies off. Before finally killing them and then leave them there for the buzzards and vultures to eat.Coming back a few days later for the bones. But hey thats just me.

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.
Hi Alexis
I would love to see the photo of Mark whether people here agree or not. We will wait and see what the response is then if no one wants to post theirs then I would like to see it privately. Is there any chance I could use it on my site?

RE: Beaufighter !!
Sorry Alastair
I dont have any pics but if you email Grant Newman at the museum maybe he could oblige with a few.
Not much has happend recently. They started to strip and treat/ or paint some of the fuselage. And other bits and pieces but after a great start a great big grinding halt.
Steve I am not sure if the Museum Voulanteer are doing this or if its a private venture as with the spit but I know the spit was funded by the Scottish Exec. And is private run. I think the museum is doing the Beau themselves which means no more work unti funding. Personally I think they should leave the beau in storage and get the Blenheim and Anson finished then they could have some time and space to work on the beau also they could put everyone on the beaufighter and not work over three different aircraft.

RE: Who’s taking over the reigns?
Yak 11 fan. Dont think I am trying to get at you. But I really am not getting at you. Every time I go to my local airshow there is always a great variety of Warbirds, Jets and aerobatic aircraft and personally I wont leave the display line until I ve seen every aircraft. I usually go early and see the trade stalls first but I dont get there for doors opening just a little later than that. Then I set myself up at the display line for the rest of the time. One thing that does annoy me and a few other will agree is when you are sitting or standing near a fence with a decent gap between you and the fence but no space for anyone else at the front why is it that people always are so inpolite and barge in front trying to take pictures all the time. Wouldnt it be simpler and less offensive to say excuse me mind if I get a few pics in. That I wouldnt mind so much because just maybe I will see the persons pics on the web if I am lucky.
Sorry I dont mean to ramble on about airshows but My main point was the Aircraft involvement.

RE: RAF Falcons parachute picture teaser.
Ok munnst
you got me on that one technically there would only be 22 chutes in view though. The reserve still being in the pack.
And even if there are 33 technically munnst you can do aritmatic. Much like my spelling really. Sorry mate only teasing.
Sparky there were actually more Parachutists that day but only eleven in this shot. There was no trick question about ones out of shot. I think there was 12 or 13. I know there was more. I think 12 actual Falcons and 1 Falcon camera man.
Something like that???

RE: RAF Falcons parachute picture teaser.
Hi Kev
When I said it was confirmed bad weather for a jump I mean that we on the ground were told from the control bus that there would be no jump today and suddenly all these freefallers appeared from the back of the herc. You couldnt get any more than confirmed a no jump than we were told. But at the last minute they must have thought ok lets go for it. To my knowledge nothing happened to them as I guess it was their decision to jump or not. It was a really big surprise for us.
I dont know if there were any parachutes in front of the white smoke trailing as he is the lead parachute and there shouldnt be any in front unless the camera chute was in front. But I think there should only be one in front in that case.

RE: new member wants to share pics
For futurshox and Ja
>There’s not a special place for pics as such, by the way.
>It’s just that an A-10 as a military jet is better placed on
>the Airforces Monthly board as that’s where people talk
>about such things. No big deal though!
And I though Flypast the magazine dealt with all types of aircraft.
One issue I saw had a Hunter in it and also I have seen a few modern types in it too. So should a A-10 really be in AFM or can we talk about them here too. Also saw a harrier in there too so if they still serve then do we have to talk about them in AFM as well.
I think that we should be able to talk about AIRCRAFT in Flypast but if we get onto subjects that involve more on the side of air forces then we should continue on the AFM forum.

RE: radioactive instruments
We all know that the risk of contamination from these dials is very very very slight and is even less contamination than 1 visit to the dentist. The Museum of Fligh at East Fortune had made a study into the radioactive instruments and while I know they had experts in I dont think getting rid of the intruments was ever an option. Rather that they would stop public access to the cockpits and be more careful about placing instrument in public areas. I know that the closing of certain cockpits was a big big issue for one member of the public and ultimately thats why the chat room on the MoF site was taken of the site. I think I am correct in saying that this guy took his complaints to the top. So I would hazard a guess he had something to do with the current situation. I would rather see the cockpits closed rather that strip out all the guts of the machine. I would rather see a closed cockpit but still be able to look inside and see all the original guages.
Another case of being PC but this time from a Health and Safety aspect.
Doesnt everyone think that the pilots who flew these things should get compensation for flying these radioactive beasts. Surely it would have effected their health and what about all the erk’s who crawled about these mechanical animals to repair or strip them for disposal.
A lot more here than meets the eye.

RE: Avenger pic
Thanks guys.
Here is a more. Sorry about the quality of the pics as I said before it was a point and click thingy and the focus is non existant.
But here they are anyway.

RE: Save a Sea Vixen
Hi Ant
I do agree with what you and David have been saying and it is unlikely that East Fortune would ever have a Mustang but as I said before it cant be ruled out and sometimes funny things happen.
For instance a mustang owner finds out that East Fortune or IWM have a very much sought after aircraft. He has a couple of Mustangs and the Museum has a couple of what he wants so a trade takes place.
I know this is unlikely but its the kind of thing that can take place.
Also I do not desire to see any more potentially flyable aircraft become static I was only thinking what if. I only really posted this as an example and I could have used the same argument for the Hawker Hunter. Why not get one of them. I saw a Hunter complete apart from instrument. (Some were missing) Also listed as ideal for static display. This was in the region of £2000 surely this couldnt be too much for their budget. I remember when the last curator was there. It wouldnt have been a problem then. A number of things have went to the dogs since the change of curator. But I am putting the lack of stalls at this years Festival of flight down to the fact that the usual stall ie Aviation art and surplus would have been at Duxford seeing as it is a bigger crowd down there.

RE: Save a Sea Vixen
Yes I did mean the P-51 but I dont think that it would be totally out of the question. It would depend on how badly they wanted the airframe etc etc.

RE: Merlin engine pics.
I had the pleasure of hearing this beast start up a few weeks ago when the museum had their open doors day which was mobbed. (this is because its free on that day)
I had heard it roar and then just as we got to it he hit the kill switch. At this I was slightly miffed as there is normally an hour or so between runs. A crowd formed round the engine which was behind barriers I might add but you got fairly close to it. There were small children at the barrier and then ……………..
He started it up just as we got to the barrier I had my own 12 year old with me and he doesnt like noisy things either. All the children dropped to their bellies and hid behind their parents and mine just stood there with his fingers in his ears. looking on as if to say what all the fuss about just put your fingers in your ears.
We were standing directly behind and the shot of flames thatcame out the stacks was amazing as to also was the prop wash. Even though it a test prop it can still blast you away. it was sitting at idle and then he put it up to half and then all the way to as much of the full throttle as he could or was allowed to and then back down to idle.
It was just GREAT.
Cant wait until the next time I see it.
