Couldn’t abide his politics and as an actor I thought he matured and improved as he became older. His best performances were all in his later years, as his politics became less assertive – perhaps there was a connection.

    I do languages for fun.

I wasn’t going to study what I am at uni; I was originally accepted for Spanish with TESOL BA Hons then changed.

    Why, out of interest?

Most of the pain and suffering in the world has been inflicted by believers in some divine force on believers in the same or another divine force.

If they decided to secede to London or Oslo, then you be a bit stymied, wouldn’t you. And of course your last point is spot on. Look what a total mess the Scots have made of UK affairs over the last few years! Well said.

“Actually, I’d argue that it’s nothing short of impossible for you to prove that God doesn’t exist.”

Why would we even want to try? Since there is no proof of his existence there is no requirement to prove the negative. What a bizarre suggestion.

Al – you are living in a dream world. 70% of the oil is off Shetland and the last time I was there the last thing the islanders wanted was an autonomous government in Edinburgh. And the majority of Scots know that they are far better off milking London for cash.
