Old shape,in post #18 you say that nations that routinely practice torture should be stopped at all costs. Why’s that, because you don’t object to torture in principle ?Secondly, would you restrict torture on TV to child killers or rapists ? Why would the life of a child be more valuable than that of someone ,say , my age ( a pensioner, dammit ! ) Wouldn’t it be fairer to apply it to ALL murderers and would you go along with that ?

What would make us a better society would be treating even the vilest of people in a civilised manner,i.e.imprisonment until the day they die of natural causes.I don’t buy the concept of Christian forgiveness, some things can’t be forgiven. If I knew I’d be in prison until my dying day I’d beg for a death sentence.I remember one of the Birmingham six saying how he’d begged the prison governor just to be allowed to feel the rain on his face and been refused …that loss of freedom would be the worst punishment I could imagine.Anyway,I was actually only concerned with the use of torture as a way of extracting information .

Hi folks; This is a tough one.Just to get up to speed
what charges where the suspects accused of that
the yard felt this needed to be used?

My paper said it was connected with drugs offences and the alleged torture was to get them to say where the drugs were .

Old shape, you’re a decent chap judging by the way you put those Princess photos up for me.Therefore you’re smart enough to know that torturing people because they’ve tortured other people is just descending to the same level.Either you’re being deliberately provocative or you’ve been listening to Tiesto so loud it’s addled your brain .

Haven’t you seen Marathon man ? If anyone even threatened me with torture I’d sing like a canary in a nanosecond .

My Dad’s,showing that an interest in aviation lasts a lifetime … It was 1935,he was 12 and someone had given him half a crown ( 12p ).That was enough to buy a 5 minute flight in a DH84,a forerunner to the Dragon Rapide. He remembers that it was blue with silver wings, belonged to Surrey Flying Services, and even the registration G-ACIU.The aeroplane was requisitioned for the war,and left in France after Dunkirk.Just wish I could get my daughter interested in aeroplanes too .
