I take your point,but surely for all their cultural diversity those countries’ citizens were all in the loosest sense,basically South African and Indian.We’re talking about two completely different countries here. You might as well expect England to combine with ( God help us ) France.

But realistically,that’s never going to happen,is it ? Arab and Jew combining peacefully in one state ?
