One for grown-ups ( like me and my daughter. The term grown-ups is questionable ).

My songs know what you did in the dark.

Maybe I shouldn’t mention this in case the sentimental old codger reads it,but Jim did tell me a couple of days ago via facebook, that he wished he and his forum friends could all get together for a group hug before he went into hospital.
I think this thread is proof of the affection that he inspires on here.
What a nice lot you are.

All the best Jim,and if the surgeon throws in the towel there must be more than enough engineers on the forum to finish the job.
    Cheers, Anne

My great-grandfather,a retired Royal Marine, was in the Royal Naval Division and actually served briefly alongside ANZAC troops at Gallipoli.
He wasn’t there very long before falling ill and being sent back to the UK,but I’m very proud that he was actually there.

I reckon Mr. Bee and I hit the jackpot – born just after the war,new NHS,free university education for me,easy employment and affordable housing.
Now retired and happily spending our kid’s inheritance :diablo:

It wasn’t all roses,we were hard up when we managed to get on the property ladder and didn’t live together until we were married,or else our mothers would have killed us ….

…. but I’m embarrassed when I think how it all virtually fell into our laps, given a reasonable amount of hard work, compared to what young people face today.

    Re 23

“……large proportion of money in the UK…..”

How much exactly? I’d like you to tell me.

You asked Derekf how much money was spent in the UK.

    The answer is,forty per cent.

I am close to bringing out the usual rant that men don’t listen properly.

The other sixty per cent goes to projects in Africa.

As I understand it,from the brief time my husband was watching yesterday’s broadcast, 100% of the money donated is given to charitable projects.
The cost of administration is supplied separately by corporate and individual donations.
