I do find them a trifle juvenile !!

I used to be on an over-50s forum that introduced both a ” like ” and ” dislike ” option.

Much to my amusement, most of these mature old souls reacted to their posts being disliked rather as though someone had murdered their first-born.
After much debate, the forum owners removed the dislike option,as it was felt to be far too harsh for most of the old dears to cope with 😀

If you like someone’s post, why not just say so. People don’t give enough compliments i.m.o.

So it looks as though people aren’t that bothered about death ?

Now I know this isn’t really relevant, but I’d like to share this. Three soldiers from New Zealand were killed in Afghanistan recently, and their comrades performed a haka for them on their return home.

If I had a send-off like this I’d be well pleased.

At sixty-five this year I definitely qualify as a coffin-dodger,but I’m certainly not worried about dying. Rather I think I’m lucky to have got this far with good health, compared to so many people I know.

I heard from a friend in New Zealand this week that she’s just been diagnosed with a painful, incurable, untreatable muscle-wasting disease. We used to laugh about how clumsy she was, always tripping over things, but it was because she was ill all along.
She’s just had an excruciating muscle biopsy, and now faces having a bone-marrow sample taken.

What exercises my mind much more than thinking about dying is just how bloody unfair life is. Why should she, younger than me,have to bear this burden while I’m still ( almost ) skipping around like a two-year old ? Why couldn’t I have had the incurable fibromyalgia my daughter was diagnosed with when she was seventeen, instead of her ?

I know it’s a cheesy new age cliche to have ” an attitude of gratitude “,but I definitely do.

The only thing that slightly depresses me is that I don’t think I’m going to live long enough to read all the books I’ve accumulated 🙂

Fantasy of Flight’s facebook page has some recent photos of the Sunderland.

I remember my husband talking to Peter Smith when we saw the aeroplane at Calshot, but I’ve not been able to find any references to him on the internet other than as the author of a book about her.

    Oh,this is a classic –

    http://news.sky.com/story/976396/the-sun-prints-naked-prince-harry-pictures

Out of a sense of responsibility  the Sun is publishing the pictures so those poor people without internet access ” can take a full part in the national conversation “.

I really can’t see that anything’s gained by displaying Harry’s best bits ( or not ) for the nation’s inspection over their cornflakes.

Surely it’s not unreasonable for the poor s*d to have a little privacy occasionally ? What’s next, Polaroids of Liz ‘n Phil getting it on ?

Mr. Boyle : I don’t know about you,but my cavorting days are long gone 😀

Nobody so far seems to have picked up the point that this was a private occasion where Harry was doing whatever young men do,and presumably was photographed without his knowledge or consent.

Does ” the public interest ” override all considerations now ? Wouldn’t it be enough for the press to report that some candid photos of Harry had been taken, suggesting royal security’s not as good as it should be ? Is it really essential to make the point by showing the photos to the world and his dog ?

Or does ” It’s already been on the internet ” justify anything these days ?

That rotting corpse as you so charmingly describe it was once her little boy.
I daresay she wants him to have a little dignity even after all this time.

I do remember the trial of Brady and Hindley and the tortures they inflicted on the children before killing them.

A decent burial would , I imagine, be some small comfort.
