Any story behind hunters with GB and Iraqi marks on pictures below?
There are absolutely no british(RAF) markings on these pictures’ Hunter.
The fin flash is the iraqi one, and has evolved from the earlier rudder flash, used by the IrAF since its creation. This type of fin flash has been in use up to the mid-sixties.
The option concerning used aircraft is not even beeing considered. F-16 is done, it’s the EF. The question is when and how many.(probably 30 with the initial order)
These screenshots are the best I could do:
According to the last informations, the corpse that was recovered from the area surrounding the crashed airframe, belonges to a russian instructor employed by the helicopters constructor. It remaines unclear which crue member was at the controls, or what might have caused the crash. This accident comes after the loss of one of two
Pc-9 armed trainers back in September 2005, resulting in the death of both its crue.
Here is one from Somalia’s SAC:
Some more Salvadoran Ouragans:
I’ve seen a similar roundel(green-white-big blue center) some years a go, on Mi-24s that supposedly were From Sierra Leone.
You’re right Lika, this is the starboard side of 460. It seems that noone has a color pic showing the port side after all.
Swiss Mirages were equipped with a special, partly american, expensive avionics suite and later with fixed canards. But they were not stretched. Well except in price 😉
The MirageIIIS did have a stretched nose(radom), since their introduction in swiss service:
It is the same ac but not the same pic.
Thanks for the reply Lika, but this one is 456 not 460
Another well known Somali F-6:
Btw, does anyone have a color version of this picture?
It seems that this MiG-29 picture was taken in Iran. Note the F-4 behind it.

The plane in the background is not a Phantom, it’s A RJAF Casa C-101 light attack aircraft, so Iran is very un probable.
Thanks Tulio
Fantastic pictures!
You know I ‘ve always been wondering why this particular subject is almost completely ignored, since I consider the Ouragan the most important chapter of Central American aviation history, followed by FAH Mysteres.
However your pictures will be very contributing.
Are there any more of them? Any luck with a starboard view of FAS 713?
Again thank you very much
