And here is a color photo with as requested “001”
Her is an aggregate image showing both the port and starboard side of #001. I’m very interested in seeing its upper surfaces. Googeler offered to post a scan of the001 picture I’ve posted earlier; would be really interesting.
Here are some photos I took some years back
Very nice photos press. The ones showing #112 must be from Pipera, right.
Here is one showing #112 in its first livery. Should there be ahigher resolution version?
Here comes another, although low quality, not seen before on the net.
219 was the last -93 to crash in 1998, signaling the grounding of the whole fleet.
look at what i’ve found: this mig-21 is lying derelict on kandahar airfield sporting clearly visible green roundel outlined with black. never seen any roundel like this one before and that leads me to this: could it be the roundel of the taliban movement, ie the afghan islamic emirate af?

I don’t think there’s anything really unusual going on with that roundel. To me it seems like an 80s star roundel with completely faded red ring and star, plus a white central disc who’s remains are still visible.

For the color version of the second you’ll have to wait till I get my hands on a scanner…
Thanks googeler, but I was actually interested in a better starboard view of IAR-93#114, which is visible in the background on roman-45, before its crude repainting at Otopeni. However I would be very grateful if you could post the color version of the other one, or other pictures of 001, especially anyone showing the upper surfaces.
When I look at this picture, I see what looks like an iraqi fin flash on the Blue-grey camouflaged F1’s tail, what do you think?
Would anyone have a high resolution version of the first of the following pictures, or a color version of the second?
Thank you very much for the two images of 600, I hadn’t seen them before, although I had checked the Academy’s website wallpaper, and hadn’t seen any 93s. Hope you could post some more of this kind.
Here is a rare one:
Hello
Try here http://www.incas.ro/english/album_foto/iar%2093/index.htm
this is the website of the Designing Institute from Romanian Part.
You should have some new images …http://www.incas.ro and some nice prototypes.๐
Thanks tomcat, that particular website is indeed the most comprehensive in terms of interesting pictures of IAR-93s, it’s just that I’m already aware of it’s existence, as well as every other romanian website on that subject. I was hoping that some of the forum members with some kind of connection to Romania, would be able to post any pictures or scans(for exemple those of the International Air Power Rewiew) in their possession, that haven’t been shown on the net before.
Here’s one more:
Sorry if this has been brought up before, spotted these two aircraft at Harare in Zimbabwe. They (the ones circled in red) look military, the have a camo on top but the look too big to be Canberra’s and too small too be transports, so what are they???
These are indeed Canberras.
area 51 anyone?
I use Google Maps instead
Here are some:
Well, it seems that nobody is interesed in the Il-28 found in Syria and the Mi-24ยดs.
The next pictures are dedicated to my friend Enrique from Mieres, Asturias, Espaรฑa.
Enrique, las fotos son de la base de Tiyas en Siria, que las disfrutes ๐ .
Stratosaurus it seems that we got the idea to search for syrian airfields simultainously, as my pictures are from 23-08. However the pictures you have posted must be from an airfield other than Tiyas, as here is what I have found there:
Are you sure George cause i don’t see the national flag on the tail (cf exemple)
There ‘s no way of this one beeing iraqi, wearing that particular camouflage. This camouflage was applied on libyan and moroccan F1s.Taking into account that the moroccans received no two-seaters, and also that their Mirages lack the fin extension, no doubt remains of the fact that the picture you’ve posted shows a libyan machine.
Mirage F1…..
F1 BQ landing
serial : ? ๐
This one is a libyan F1 BD prior to the application of national markings, probably still in France. A serial is not evident, However the serials ranged from 201 to 206.
