Again, I’m with SAAB, like the scheme. I believe that Air France started the trend to all white. If they do change their scheme, you can bet it will be excellent. They may change their livery when they go into private hands. Private companies tend to be a bit more bold with these type of decisions.
I’m not crazy about that new design, though fresh, it looks more like a race car than an airline.
It may interest you to know that Air Canada has moved to the same model, almost. All flights under three hours (or 3.5?) no longer serve complimenatry food. Rather, one can buy a “restaurant style” meal for I believe between $7-10 Canadian. the meals are supplied by serveral Canadian restaurant chains that come under the CARA group. Beverages are still complimentary.
I think that this is the wave of the future for short haul flights. Why should airlines dole out money for something people can do without if they want to? THey have to fly, and if most carriers are doing this, then the one that doesn’t may be wasting their money.
There is a huge article in Airliner World two issues ago.
I would agree with Bhoy. Any passangers that Easy Jet would have leaving from northern Europe to southern Europe would fly direct (point-to-point no frills strategy). I imagine that ORY is for the sole purposes of French holiday seekers (or whatever) to the south.
Do you think that certain European airlines inability to post a profit is an indication of market saturation? Some of your airlines appear to be doing well, while others aren’t fairing as positively.
I know AC in Canada is in severe trouble, but that is a variety of factors, including the post 9/11, SARS, global economy.
For instance, when I hear that Austrian is losing money, is it because it’s too close to other major carriers?
Also, it seems that airlines in the One World are, on average, fairing better than STAR.
Hey, welcome aboard. I just read your profile. We’re exactly the same age, well, almost, I’m April 28, 1973. Born in Ireland, live in Canada. Enjoy the site.
Less UK charter coverage, more airports and an issue, or series, on starting an airline from the groud up. More continental Europe coverage as a lot seems to be happening there.
Also, perhaps a special on Air India.
An editorial would be cool as well.
I can’t stand the 757.
This plane for me is like the A340-600, I think airlines should have very large font on the sides stating the carriers name. Otherwise, it’s going to look a bit odd. I really like the mock-ups though.
I agree JAL, and eventually AC (not for a good while though), but I also thing that NW will be in line. They are the largest operator into Asia (outside of Asian carriers) are they not?
I could see BA getting on board if for no other reason that slot restraints at Heathrow, especially in light of the hoopla that Branson is making about his.
Who has ordered to date? I’m starting to lose track.
I was in Glasgow (and Edinburgh) twice last year and got to see more of the scenary, and it’s true, it does get better beyond the aiport, which itself is a cozy little spot. Fantastic people too.
Great photos, really like the 764 with 737 on the approach. It must be a good route for CO if they are operating 764’s.
BTW, Glasgow has a beautiful backdrop for photos.
Thanks for the information.
agreed
The charter market used to be bigger in Toronto, but post 9/11 and the loss of Canada 3000, not to mention fierce competition from AC it has become smaller. Typically it’s Europe in the summer with Mexico, Florida, Nevada and the Carribean (spelling, sorry) in the winter months. We also have Skyservice which has a number of A320/330 flying out of TO. However, if you lived in Vancouver for instance you would visit more mexico, California, Hawaii and Nevada.
We do have a new charter domestic HMY Airways using 757. Forget what the HMY means, something completely stupid.
not sure about the last question.
