Submarines can measure target range and speed using passive sonar, so I seek no reason why the same could not be done using a sufficiently accurate ESM system.

The way subs measure course & distance is completely different to DRFM ranging. You have to identify it in order to know the number of knots per propeller RPM. Then only you can cross speed & different bearings that you have got compared to your own ship to try to guess the target’s range. Most of the time you have to change your own course to get an accurate enough figure, and cross fingers the enemy sub doesn’t change course too often.

BTW I didn’t say the kremlin was good, I barely said that I’d trade Putin for any french president bar the camembert.

I worship nobody exept maybe Galilee, Voltaire, Newton, Laplace, Darwin, Pasteur, Planck, Einstein, Hubble, Dirac, Sakharov, Feynman, Sagan and a few other gentlemen of the same value. :p

Worshipping voltaire is enough for me to rest my case :eagerness:

I’d trade Putin for any president we’ve had since Louis XVI.

Irrelevant. Bad behaviour by country A in place B does not justify bad behavious by country Y in place Z. Do you think it’s OK for me to beat you up & rob you because someone you know slightly beat up someone who I used to sell stuff to? That’s what your post equates to. You’re saying that if anyone does anyone wrong, everyone else is justified in doing whatever they want. Crazy.

Except there is no french or british minority in Syria, or in Libya being oppressed, nor are those countries right next to our borders, so what’s the justification there compared to what happens in the Ukraine?

Oh there are actually christian minorities being slaughtered in Syria that we could relate to. But well.. they’re being slaughtered by the people we back up.

Anyway, the Russians are MUCH more justified to help novorossya & Crimea in general defend themselves against the junta in Kiev, than, for instance, France is justified to help & train jihadists in Syria, Libya, or wherever.

It makes me sick to see the European leaders humiliate their people by behaving so poorly on the international scale, doing the worst deeds in some countries, and pretending to have the moral high ground in the Ukraine crisis.

there’s also the simple fact that it isnt possible to sustain military operations by stealing/conquering necessary hardware

That’s the video paralay posted, I’m unsure, contrarily to swerve, what it actually depicts & when it was taken.

Might be a Ukrainian column, might be a Russian column taken in Russia… might be completely unrelated…

There is no such thing as absolute truth/rightness or lie/wrongness for complex social human interactions. Politics can only goes forwards by trying to fail “a little bit better” each time. That’s a very slow process at the human life time scale and it can even goes backward from time to time.

    I couldn’t disagree more.

Politicians can lie all they want. No journalist is going to confront them after the fact, and since the facts aren’t usually known until years later when there’s nothing you can do about the clustermess that’s been created.

They usually go: “what’s done is done, now we have to fix things”, which usually involves more, more spending, & more death.

Next time the media & politicians lie to go to war, people say “remember” the last time, and the previous one and then the one before? And someone like swerve will take the mic and say “this liar is gone, the guy who mistakenly gave wrong advice is too”. The fact remains that he has been replaced by other liars.

This is probably all false. Swerve said that this site is always wrong, if not plain lying.

    Hahaha this is awesome

The US is going to bomb ISIS, but they are also going to bomb Assad to balance things out, so that they can’t defeat ISIS.

Why don’t they just nuke the place already? That would save much suffering for the poor Syrians.

It reminds me of how wall street financed the nazi party, or the bolschevik revolution for that matter.

And retards keep claiming that “we created the situation, we have to solve it”, like our beloved leaders actually created the situation by accident. Come on!
