From memory, dear old Graham Warner stated that the props were extraordinarily expensive to have restored originally. 🙁
I’ve got a very old Sunday supplement article about it somewhere-an investigator is supposed to have taped the sounds of crews doing checks/flicking switches etc inside, and apparently there was once a crewman who ‘loved the plane so much he said he would haunt it’!!! He’s supposedly been seen hanging about the aircraft.
Sounds like the stuff of nonsense to me, but I’ll see if I can find the article anyway. 😮
Could be a lot better, could be a lot worse-thanks for posting them Snapper.
I believe a gentleman by the name of Blackadder once said that the phrase he was thinking of rhymed with ‘clucking bell’. Looking at this poor girl, I tend to agree with him… 🙁
It was aliens wot dun it mister!!! 😮 😮 😮 😮
LOL, a still enduring mystery though, and yeah, the BBC show was pretty good.
Phew, I just escaped being on the list! I’m my wife’s carer, so I’m often online on and off all day, so that’s my excuse!
(Plus the clubs won’t let me in because of my anorak with plane patches on!!!)
Neil Dudgeon was excellent as Moggy-if you’re familiar with the book of POC, you’re sure to agree. He’s been in tons of TV and stage stuff ever since-many other POC faces have popped up in other things, though some have vanished without trace;
Off the top of my head, I ‘ve seen…
****y Star-been in a Casualty and a Bill
Pip Patterson-Touch Of Frost
Fanny Barton-a few Aussie films, now a Sinatra impersonator!
Rex-loads of stuff, you wouldn’t recognise him now though (Pies)
Skull-TONS of stuff
‘Uncle’-even more TONS of stuff
Fitz-chick flicks!
Flash-Inspector Linley
It was me, and that piccie is from the ‘How They Made’ book I think.
Now, THAT’S a diorama for you to model! 😉
…certainly some truth there, but then again, the BBMF aircraft will outlive all others at that rate!
That man Ant, he speak the truth.
Hurrah, I said something right today!
Pardon me for breathing, y’all. Won’t do it again sir.
“Left…left…steady, steady…right…left…left…TEDDY GONE!!!”
Yes, two words that should strike fear into the heart of any warbird enthusiast-Roy Pullan. 😮 😮 😮 😮
Moggy is right-victory rolls count as aeros too!
…or you could also make a nice stone bridge with water beneath, and craftily suspend a Mark IX beneath it, ‘Piece Of Cake’ style!
