…though if someone should happen along here for the first time who witnessed and taped the accident, their footage would I’m sure still be welcome, and might be of great help-you never know, do you?
No, no Sky in this household, only proper telly! Guess I’ll have to wait for ‘FlyPast’ or some such to see the poor girl.
By the way, is there a photo online anywhere yet for those of us that don’t get that region of BBC coverage?
I don’t think those pictures are close enough-couldn’t zoom in a bit more next time, could you?! LOL, well done!
As I have an Aunty in Eastbourne, I had the pleasure of attending every day of Airbourne last year, with great weather each day, and my pick of vantage points each day-watched the Lanc from the end of the pier one day, the beach the next, and so on. Great stuff! 😀
Sounds like there’s much more to it than bent props and grass stains on her knees then-this is bad, I do hope they push on and get her back in the air again.
I remember when those two Mig 29’s collided in mid-air right in front of me at RIAT that year-the Blenheim had just been finished, and the crew ran towards it-on instinct, I guess-as the debris fell near them; something I’ve never forgotten.
I hope they announce their intentions soon, and that I can send a cheque off.
That’s it then, 28 years since another Lanc has flown here! (Unless you count ‘611’s tail flying along the runway!)
Off the top of my head (dangerous!) I think NX611 last flew in 1970, but that would still make Steve right about KB976.
…no no no, about that poor old birdy-perched bomber of course! 😉
Seriously though, can you imagine?
Great news-wish I had the nerve to ring somewhere and say ‘Hi, sorry to bother you, but are you on fire?’! 😀
Let’s hope that’s all it is then, cheers for that!
I mean, I know I hate THAT perch and all, but I’d never torch it…
Can’t find anything on this at all yet-hope she’s bloomin’ well wrong!
Goddam-BAD news.
The Beeb are saying the aircraft had engine trouble? But then again, they’re also saying that this is the same aircraft that idiot crashed at Denham in ’87.
Hope she’s swiftly repairable though, and that things get back to normal a.s.a.p.
🙁
Here’s a photo of the trials;
Effective, innit?! 😀
“The BBMF took one look at their just-delivered Spitfire restoration and started checking to see if anyone still had the receipt”
😀
LOL @ ‘Hali-stings’!!! 😀 😀 😀
