There’s some nice footage of Lancaster NX611 flying in the 60’s, also with some Dams pilots reminiscing in her cockpit, as well as the ‘100th’ op celebrations at Waddington for Hendon’s ‘Sugar’, as well as assorted bits and bobs with the BBMF Lanc in it’s very, very early days at various celebratory events, as well as loads more wartime bomber stuff! 😀

I think he’d be better off offering more but for fewer Concordes-but there’s just no way BA are goijng to let Virgin buy themselves all that instant prestige, are they?

“No one was sure who was about to get the biggest surprise; the lady who hadn’t realised that the tide had gone out, or the pilot who hadn’t realised that it was about to come in”

You don’t have to wait hours for an ‘airplane’ to put it’s camoflage on before you can go out, either! 😀

I do see your point-I’ve long said that Hendon in particular seems very ‘dead’, but of course, that age old chestnut ‘money’ has a lot to do with this sort of thing.

Try the London Gazette-they can be a good source on this sort of thing. Click ‘Archive’ from the home page this links to-

Although not in a wheelchair unless things get really bad, my wife has her own problems and I’m her full-time carer, and I think our favourite Spitfire polisher’s reply to Kev here is fantastic. Good on you Ashley, and I hope you enjoy your day, Kev. 😉

Yup, sadly this is the Major’s last year, though I expect we’ll see him at the stick of one Spit or other for many years to come yet.

‘…I don’t think BA would be able to operate it as a display aircraft as the Company Against Aviation will probably say ‘If you think we’ll let you display that then we might as well let the Lightning fly’.

    …Or a certain other four Olympus-powered beast!

Nice idea, but I can’t see BA funding that for many years if it’s al about money, money, money these days.

Duxford have applied for one? D’oh, don’t you just hate it when you do that-you apply for a Concorde and damn! You turn around and realise that you’ve already got one! 😮 😮 😮

I saw a Beaver (I think it was) crash fatally at Culdrose when I was a kid in the 80’s, and saw the Mig 29’s slice into each other at Fairford a few years back-bad stuff.
