Cattermole softly broke wind. ‘Not a word’, he said, ‘too much cheese’. :D;)
I’d recommend anyone to read the chapter about the Spitfire in Clarkson’s ‘I Know You Got Soul’ book, too- very moving.
I absolutely adore Top Gear, and everything it says and does.
Look, most of us are never even going to see most of those sorts of cars in the flesh, let alone ever be able to afford one, and we all just buy another Ford, or a Vauxhall, and so on and so on. We drive them every day and see hundreds like them every day, too.
So, why not have some escapist, hysterically funny automotive nonsense on TV instead?
And anyone who thinks that Clarkson is really as he portrays himself on TG is really missing the point- Jeremy is a supremely intelligent, very caring man.
Long may TG continue init’s current form, with three great guys messing about in cars!
(Looking forward to seeing the Spits too, he added, getting this rant back onto aviation!)
My maternal grandfather was a Corporal in the groundcrew of 149 Squadron through the whole war, on Wellingtons, Stirlings and Lancasters. Grew up hearing all about them, did the making models thing, dabbled in cockpits etc.
Regardless of what you call it, it is still a nice tribute to the men and women that gave their lives for our freedom.
Absolutely!
Don’t think we should be calling this ‘BBMF’, as it isn’t!
I can imagine Du Cros was pretty disillusioned by this point…years to build it, struggles to cool it, damaged prior to it’s first intended public display, crashed and cut in two…
Nice one Fluffy! :D:D:D:D
Ooh, very nice indeed- let’s hope it flies straight now, too!
Using Upkeep on the Sorpe was always going to be a compromise, and not a very good one at that- poor planning there, I reckon.
Anyway, a good programme, spoilt only by the naff CG- here’s hoping it’s better in the movie remake!
I agree, the water isn’t under the bridge yet, and quite possibly, never will. I do have a slight feeling that, XH558 will only display for a short period of time, maybe two years. I just can’t see it going on, for 10 years. If you do/have seen it, make the most of it. It may be the only time you will see it.
I agree with that actually- it’s going to be a mammoth amount of money to find year in, year out. Still, let’s see how this year goes first I s’pose!
Fantastic news- what a quick recovery!
Wasn’t Cosford rumoured to have been a flypast, not an actual display?
Nice photos- shame about the patchy old camo, though. Still, one step closer and all that!
I was looking down the flight line as this glider came along, and spectacular as it was, I was glad when it was over- far too low, no room for error at all.
