Brilliant, cheers daz! Mine’s on order, though it’s for the wife to give me at Crimbo time, so I’ve a while to wait before I see it!

I’ve got two versions here- two old 180 tapes where I taped it off the telly on first transmission- (on Betamax, chopping the ads out as it went along, and later transfered to VHS!) and the two single official VHS releases, each with three episodes plonked together into a single run on each tape (The ‘tween episodes jumps being a bit jarring in places) and the silly bleep in episode 4. I believe there was also a double VHS set containing, I assume, the same version. (Covers on both were…well, rubbish)

So, a decent set of the episodes (hopefully) as transmitted, but minus the ads of course, will be great!

…and indeed, I’ve just ordered it from Benson’s.

Individual episodes sounds great, now I just want to know how the single naughty word towards the end of the excellent episode 4 is treated- ridiculously beeped over as on the VHS, or left as it was originally transmitted.

(I will be buying this anyway, I’m just mega-curious about it before I do so!)

Using Jane as-is with ‘AJ-whatever’ on the side would look pretty naff, really.

So, is it 6 individual episodes, or the edited-together VHS effort?

Anyone got a copy of this yet, to offer up an opinion on it?

I doubt very much that there’d be any making of material, certainly not on the DVD and probably not much in the archives, either.

The book is great- I was lucky enough to buy it at the time, as it seems to have become quite rare since? There was a 2-part article in FlyPast too which was pretty good.

No, it was a bloody good program, and a pretty good crack at adapting a very big and packed book. Looking forward to hearing what this new DVD is like!

    LOL, I’ve never spotted those!?

I doubt very much that anything like that will have been done to it at all, however.

Yeah, but ‘uncut’ still might not mean ‘uncensored’; the beep over the F-word on the UK VHS version is just ridiculous.

And will there be any for sale from a stall at Legends?!

I’ll be interested to hear if these are all six episodes in their full form, each with full credits, and not the clumsy edited-together job of the old twin VHS release. Plus, will the naughty word in episode 4 be left un-bleeped this time?

    That’s the one Daz, cheers.

Maybe you can further this for us all by giving us a review of the quality etc once you’ve received your winnings?
