Hi yes Nigel yes we had a coupe of good instructors in the past and she fitted on the trailer a treat;)
I think [please correct me if i’am wrong] the parts shown in the last pic are boost pumps????? i know they are very heavy!
Bruce …. check your PMs trying to organise a date to come and see you.
Cheers Matt
Hello all, thankyou for all your kind words, here is a little update and pics as promised. Me and my friend Sean first set about saving WJ775 about 6 months ago…..not long after getting WH887 and after alot of phone calls and emails to the M.O.D we finally picked her up from Bodney yesterday [we had cut her away from what was left of her 2 weeks before]. We then made the journey to RAF Upwood where she will be kept and restoration will begin. As you can see from the photos she is in a bit of a mess but we both thought she was well worth saving:rolleyes:
Here she is back at Upwood at 8.45pm
Basking in the sun today
Inside…..wow just look at the wiring:eek:

Look what we found stowed in the oxygen bottle area:eek::confused:
If any one has any pictures of her atall that would be great……….i know there isnt that many about….being 51 squadron;)
All the best Matt
Yes please go on Andy start a Lightning pic thread 😎
This may sound a little harsh but why dont you get XR724 sorted first as she is mainly complete[or is it 2 different owners]
Here are a couple of mine , both from Waddington last year;)

All the best Matt
Why not try phoneing him, over Christmas i did just that to see if i could take some pictures of his Lightning in the garden and he was fine;)
I thought i rmember seeing 2 Vampire T11’s at Duxford a few years back…… one was on display and the other was in a hanger but was just a pod on the back of a vintage low loader? May be wrong though:o
All the best Matt
Great web site chaps, and great project. Very nice to see power back inside her i know that was’nt easy;) Do you know if she will be at cockpitfest this year?
All the best Matt:D
This thread seems to have run its course, it just goes around in circles:( i love 558 , but its plain and simple it all comes down to money and there just is’nt any about……..sad but true:rolleyes:
Hi there………. well hopefully in a couple of years time the plan is to light up the instument panels and bring her back to life, there is such alot to do before that though but we are getting there.
Cheers Matt;)

Hello all well i’ve got the church booked (Broughton Cambridgeshire May 2010) and still no Spitfire or Hurricane as of yet but i have got a year to go.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know , i have ruled out the one at Solent Skies as its along way away. Also any pictures would be great , i have tried google but with not very much success.
The funny bit is my father used to work for Specialised Mouldings who used to make them:o
All the best Matt;)
Any Canberra bits ?;)
