Great project, but if you are going to build it, it would be aswell to make it airworthy, because it will be an awful lot of work either way, IMHO. Incidentally what engine are you planning on using?
The differences between a static replica and a flying machine are too great. For example, the only viable engine is the Verner Scarlett 7H radial engine, which is still in development. The engine is heavier than the original Pobjoy, which will alter the centre of gravity. My design is also heavier. That said, I’d like to submit my design to LAA for appraisal. More to follow…
Some years ago, there were a number of drawings for Parnall built aircraft, still with Avery ltd, they included, the Puffin, Panther, & the Miles Satyr. Can any one shed light on wether or not these drawings still survive, & if so, where ?.
Bob T.
Bob, do you have any contact details for Avery Limited?
Does anyone know if the move is still on? Found this: http://www.government-online.net/gate-guardian-comet-c2-xk699/
Really? Cotton, even linen.. but actual canvas?
Oops!!! My apologies for a basic error, which I have corrected…!!!
But was it REALLY made of ‘wood and canvas‘ ?????
Now if he had said the aircraft was made from wood and it’s surfaces were then covered in Linen (not canvas), then that would be correct. I have problems with this film. We didn’t need to see the demise of RR299 – twice. I was not happy with the remarks made about the DH Museum. I cannot distract from Arthur Williams’ enthusiasm for the Mosquito – such passion is shared by many, but you don’t make many friends by comparing a much loved volunteer run museum to a boneyard. I do hope they paid for the access. Most national museums do charge for the privilege of filming on their property. Having worked on a BBC documentary as a cameraman, I know how much these productions cost. Accordingly, I’d imagine that “The Plane That Saved Britain” would have cost around £150,000 to £200,000 to deliver.
Is this the same organisation that ID the entire crew of a USAF aircraft shot down during the Vietnam War from a single tooth?
A few years ago The Daily Mail was giving away “Angels One Five” FREE on a DVD. You can still buy copies on eBay for around 99p (plus postage)…

What has happened to those C1/C1K already retired? I know some have been scrapped!
Can anyone confirm how many C1/C1K variants remain operational/intact?
The helmets worn by the firemen are post-war!!!
