Well of course 3 and 4 would stay, as I previously posted, as well as ,local radio, which is minimal costs in the scale of things, but 2’s output is covered across a swathe of local and national pop/light/music stations.

Radio 4 would still produce good comedy – if it could. Most of the current radio comedy is pretty dire, I would say.

I am sure most of the actors in all the other soaps would disagree with you. Anyway working hard is what actors are paid large sums of money to do, isn’t it?

No, you are right – there is nothing like the BBC at all levels, which is why I want to change it, because I do not believe we should have to pay for it all.

I happen to know that something of the genre of “First Light” is on the drawing board and under active consideration right now…but not Battle of Britain.

As to escape and evasion….there is something that has just entered production.

I’m involved with both to a greater or lesser extent, but afraid that I cannot say more at this stage. I hope it whets appetites and curiosity!

Pagen – let me more specific. In my revamped BBC there would be a basic news website, nothing more nothing less. And radios 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 would be scrappped. The commercial sector already provides 75% of radios 1 and 2, 5 wasn’t missed before it was created, 6 is another provider of music, some of which can be found elsewhere, if not any commercial broadcaster worth its salt will take it on and 7 no longer exists having been created into 4 extra, which few people seem tlo listen to.
