Whatever the policy it should certainly be made quite clear to those who wish to donate, where their money is going.

A helpful link. Unless I missed it in amiongst the various links there is nothing about a proportion of the in-store donating being taken by Tesco. Do you know anything more, T/O?

If it turns out to be true that Tesco are taking 50% it makes that act the more mealy-mouthed set against their Trust’s charitable donations, which are set against tax anyway.

I am also certain that the amounts of money put in the buckets would fall dramatically if it was made clear that only 50% was going to the named charity.

I look forward to hearing corroboration of the story as well as a statement from the Wings Appeal for the sake of objectivity and clarity.

And, no Arthur, I cannot recall ever having opened a copy of the Daily Mail although I am aware of its reputation.

TV ads are easy to deal with. I don’t watch much commercial TV but when there is a programme I want to see I record it and then skip the ads when I watch it. Eezy peezy! Mind you if everyone did it that would be the end of commercial TV!!

Jay – if your assumptions are correct you have a measure of justification for the action but not for the manner in which it is carried out. Since none of us are privvy to the publisher’s reasons we are unable to form a judgment.

The first four words of your third paragraph tell their own story. In my fairly long experience of industry the relationship between suppliers and customers has never been the strong point of bean counters.;):)
