Director Tony Scott has confirmed that the long talked-about Top Gun 2 will take flight in the next couple of years and the scriptwriters have confirmed that Maverick is the main character. Now all we need is Tom Cruise and Val “Ice Man” Kilmer to sign on the dotted line.

In a global perspective we are not that badly off.

When we elect a government that does what it says it will do, when we have schools which send out into the world 99% percent of our children literate and numerate and with a sense of responsibilty for themselves as well as others, when we have reorganised our priorities so that we have the support for the ill and the frail which their families cannot provide, when we have re-educated our citizens to understand that there are no rights without responsibilities, then we will have made a good start in solving the problem. But there will be a lot more to do.

I don’t suppose there is a local association which woild be invloved, is there? In fact are you the only person who is even aware of the anniversary? Wasn’t the Vimy or its pdecessor first flown from Joyce Green?

The state seems incapable of spending our money where it is most needed. It doesn’t matter whether it is caring for the ill or the old, educating us, protecting us or defending us the money never goes where it is most required.

How interesting – I am ashamed to say that I knew nothing of these problems, or the lack of help for trhem, so I hope that programme did some good and I applaud you for taking part.
