Without any specialist knowledge but just trying to absorb what the experts are saying here it surprises me that the owners have spent so much time and money to restore it to flying condition when there would appear to be so much risk attached to it. Reading the last two posts you will save the pilot but not the aircraft worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. But perhaps I am missing something.

Much as I am passionate at the thought of seeing a Mossie fly, it is rather tempered by the thought that it might be its last flight.
