Fondly remembered and I think the longest serving character in the series – he even appeared in the Sarah Jane spin off.

Great pictures and many bring back memories from the 70s and 80s. Particularly the rather lonely looking F27 at Edinburgh. I flew Air Anglia frequently there during the mid to late 70s so that certainly dates it. Many thanks for all of these.:D

So we have to launch this sail, align its trajectory to that of the asteroid, accelerate it to a few thousand metres per second to bring it alongside, but at an angle, deflecting it away from the earth’s orbit. Easy, peasy – job done.;)

How would I know, Linc – how would any of us know? We know we can launch thermonuclear devices into space but in order to eliminate the chance of fragments hitting the earth destruction would have tro be a long way out. An asterorid of the size you seem to be proposing would probably be far too large for us to destroy it anyway. No, you’ll just have to sit back and enjoy the road to Armageddon.;)

Wherever it it hit the effect of every part of the globe would be catastrophic, just as large extra terrestial have done previously, destroying our way of life for millenia, so there would not be much point in doing anything…….unless you are Bruce Willis.;)

Whereas the Aboriginese in Australia were treated gallantly by the British, just like the Zulu in South Africa (not that they were treated any better by the Boers).

I don’t know if you’re serious about your remark, but if this is your view on history it is extremely biased.

Nor sure about Indians in Canada being “ethnically cleansed” but presumably you are referring to Australia and New Zealand. Do you suppose that the Maoris and Aborigines would have provided their heirs with the quality of life now enjoyed by the populations of those two countries had they not been colonised?
