I reckon the Webmaster/Mods should open a new sticky in GD titled ‘Classic Threads’, and this thread should be the first such entry. Preserve such hilarity for future generations, they may well need it.
Only if the stories are true – when they are not they are in danger of becoming unfunny simply because they are not true.

Speaking as a grandfather from the UK (with an internet connection), I invite you to reconsider your definition.

Nice to rejoin this thread this morning to find that it has been neatly rounded up and all the inaccuracies corrected with no need for further posts from this member on the matter. Don’t know if Hampden is satisfied though…….;)

“...I suppose myself, Sky High, and a few others remember VERY fondly the days when we realy remember Great Britain, in all it’s glory, and over the years, watch it gradualy go down the crapper.”
Linc to answer you, although we have thread drifted rather, yes and no. I actually think we look back with very rose-tinted spectacles on our “greatness”. We showed great courage and tenacity in ’39-’45 and then with 5 years of a Labour government followed by years of weak moderate Conservatism we lost our grip. We were without question a socially more aware, generous, courteous and more responsible people and we were better educated and possibly better cared for, but I think we let the rest slip.. our manufacturing expertise in all fields was eroded bit bu bit for a variety of reasons from the early sixties to now.
And to answer the OP’s totally hypothetical question, for what good it is, no.
