Back on thread I saw this, this morning:

“Sir Richard Thompson, President of the Royal College of Physicians, said medics are struggling to cope with rising demand especially among the elderly, with the result that planned tests and operations are being delayed.
He spoke out as Department of Health statistics showed the proportion of inpatients waiting more than 18 weeks for treatment has risen by 29 per cent since the general election, with those needing orthopaedic or brain surgery experiencing the worst delays.”

Yes I would and would add that recent Prime Ministers have been more than generous in spending our money and when they ran out of that, borrowed money, on other “misadventures” nearer home.

Not a bad analogy! The figures, as with your household accounts, are affected by variables in the same way. The figures are just a bit bigger, that’s all. But they are just massive numbers produced to illustrate a situation that in reality would never arise. They do illustrate by just how much our public liabilities have risen over the years.

Well, that’s true, but there might have to be the small matter of a trial…..or shall we bypass that nicety on this occasion and make an exception for them??

Brooks and both Murdochs have been summoned to appear before MPs next week. Let’s hope that oily rag Vaz is not involved in the interrogation.

But the Murdochs have declined and cannot be forced to as they are not UK citizens.

Yes, statistics are both helpful and unhelpful. I think the sample was 3,600 but I have deleted the page I was looking it. As you rightly say it is the quality of the sample not thee quantity but as impoortantly the question. Satisafaction surveys are ephemeralm beasts at the berst of times.

I don’t think slagging off the NHS is in the same league as complaining about the weather. I think it is/has been slagged off because it has perfomed inconsistently and often poorly. And I am not even sure we hold it dear. We have no choice.
