OK, done that
You two were quick! I was about to post it myself. I’m no great lover of the Mail. but it might be worth breaking the habit of a lifetime for a week.

Messerschmitt Me163 anybody? Heinkel He162? Probably did as much as the RAF and USAAF to reduce the life expectancy of late-war Luftwafe pilots? Still, I suppose they distracted the Germans away from the Me262 and Ar234…
Surprised nobody’s come up with Bristol Brabazon and the Saro Princess, either
Me-163 Komet, XB-70, and Hughes Hercules!!
He did say ‘within reason’ at the start of the thread! Still, it’s nice to dream:)
If you’re looking at the projects that might just come to fruition given favouirable circumstances, then my vote would be Mosquito. There again, we all know the Vulcan’s not home and dry yet…
I wouldnt be so sure…… look at BBMF venues for June 29th 😉

OK, I’ll rephrase it. Liverpool is a no-no for full-scale air displays…
I’ll be delighted to see what turns up for the 75 bithday bash.
There’s a BBMF Spitfire overflying the Thundersprint bike meeting in Northwich on May 11, btw. Organiser is a mate of mine, so I’m giving it an unashamed plug here http://www.thundersprint.com/
I presume it would be up and down the Mersey as part of the Capital of Culture 08 shindig. Liverpool Airport is a no-no now for air displays cos of the level of commercial activity, and the Wirral and Southport shows often attended by the BBMF are in July and September respectively.
I can’t find anything on the Liverpool 08 website http://www.liverpool08.com/ at the moment, but they’re such a bunch of anally-retentive control freaks that they’re probably prosecuting the BBMF under the OSA even now for letting the cat out of the bag.
Well blow me down! I stand corrected – serves me right for being a smartypants
Maybe it’s a silly question, but what livery will the A330 tankers wear? Will the RAF and USN be accepting fuel from a plane decked out in full BA markings, or will fare-paying passengers be shipped out in hemp-coloured anonymity?
How quickly could an A330 be re-liveried? Are there any conventions of war allowing/preventing civil-marked planes from carrying out military duties? (And would a quick swap of civil for military serial be enough?)
I’m puzzled.
The mind boggles!
Felt one prolonged jolt in Liverpool about 00.58. Email from a chum who’s a civilian police control operator in Leeds saying it’s all gone mental out there. Other emails/forum contributions sugest it’s centred west Yorkshire way

Do you mean the types or the actual registrations? The twins are pretty obviously C-47s, and the bigger four-engined machine looks like a DC-6 or even DC-7 (but I wouldn’t swear to it). Haven’t a clue as to the registrations, though.
I agree, stills dont really give the same impression.
You could always have a look at the real things in either Duxford or Cosford. Yes, it was a whopper.

In brief, this thread suggests Eagle was a distinct possibility as a TSR2 name
At the risk of taking this thread even further afield, I’ve just been re-reading John Wyndham’s Day of the Triffids. The narrator refers to his parents having been killed in an Airbus crash – and this in about 1950!
Edit: I’ve just double-checked, and to be fair Wyndham refers to it as an ‘air-bus crash’, ie lower case and hypenated. It’s still a bit uncanny though.
