Hi Phantom 11
Well we can push a bit of interest by keeping it alive
Here is a shot of an RAAF Aces aircraft at Labuan – it survived the War only to be destroyed by burning when the allies left the base. Note the Checker Band on the tail – I will print the story of why when I get back to Australia on Friday
Kindest regards

Hi Ant
You should never believe whats on the back of pics !!!
I have always believed that this was a sample Gamecock because I have a the original pic and thats what it says – that this was a sample Gamecock sent here for evaluation by the RAAF Richmond and rejected as unsuitable- I think this was eventually the need that was filled by the Bulldog – none of which survives – I will do some sluthing as I have seen this or similar photos in my books – I am on my way to the UK but will be back Friday and look it up then
Kindest regards

The Wapati is of particular Interest A5-12
This must be the strangest “Special” ever created – The machine was specially modified for air racing!!!
Note the faired over rear cockpit and the cleaned up airframe and can you pick who the “Special ” pilot was – Very “Special”

Hi Beaufighter VI
Great shot of the Mk21 – Dennis Baxter looks preoccupied !!
Shot must have been taken either at the start or the end as theres no way you could move when the sheds were full – let alone take that Pic!!

Adrian
She will start studying the pilots notes as soon as her school exams are over and the test pilot gives her the OK – I will have to get some more money to pay for her multi engine Rate but all should be well for a 25 Dec ferry flight if that fails the next date available is April 1

Tigers were early on her list and she seemed to want to get this MiG 17 cranked up too and was a little upset when I wouldn’t take her up in it – something about wanting to use the Gun to get even with her Pre School teacher ……..

There are also healthy numbers of Strikemasters in Aus and NZ as well as quite a few JPs –

Hi all some shots of Beaufighter restorations, Recoveries and other useful pics in Australia – particularly of interest are shots of the HARS Beaufighter recoveries in the Hanger at Schyville NSW with A19-144 (Now at Duxford) and A19-148 parts of which are now at Skysport as part of their sale of the Beaufighter “Kit set”

Hi all
Well all I mean is that there should be enough Jumos around to build one or two examples for this machine – if they can build near extinct “Long Nose” allisons for the P40b/C and the Kawasakis for the Tony’s then they should be capable of a Jumo – I don’t know I’m just thinking it should be possible?

A few more
Hi PhantomII
Your post is very interesting and indeed there were many great USAAC pilots especially 49th FG who fought bravely in the Pacific as well as RAAF and NZ pilots also who fought very well in the Pacific – Australia and NZ took on many hundreds of P40s and it was the mainstay of the RAAF fighter squadrons in the SEPTO for a long time. Many famous Australian pilots such as Caldwell and Truscott flew the P40 in SEPTO and the middle east and were very successful with the type.
Quite a few of the SEPTO aircraft wrecks survived and several have been and are being rebuilt to fly especially at Avespecs, Pioneer and Wangarratta in NZ and Australia and I anticipate more will do so in the future
Here is a 49th FG aircraft restored and operated by Precision Aerospace at Wangarratta – A real work of art
