Hi Ollie up the top of the page you will notice search botton – press it and type in Beaufighter and many many threads on Beaus will open up to you including discussions and pics of the Skysport project – suffice to say it is a pretty complete set of bits based around a former RAF airframe.

    Hello Setter and DaveM2,

I am the one who took the recent pictures of the FW58C.

Could you please let me know where I can find the informations that you mention concerning the salvage of the plane, the survivor, the two who died but are not in the plane ?

And Setter, what is the web page of the pictures you show so I can put a link from my web pages ?

Thank you for your help and your interest

    .

Hi here is a link to the sight i cut the drawings and info from

    http://www.avrosys.nu/aircraft/Misc/926P6.htm

The Info on the survivors/deceased came from “The Surviving German Aircraft Recovery Group” based in Cologne – it seems to be down today but I will post the address when I get home – They are supposed to be buried in a Nearby Village or were after they were recovered – they may have been relocated .

Hope this helps – I am no expert here just getting this from the Net – It is a facinating prospect if it is recovered – from the look of the pics it is very well preserved but they will have to be very careful with that rear Fuselage – it looks very fragile!!

    Kindest regards

    sssssssHi

She is wonderful- I hope I get to see her one day thanks for the fantastic pics

Is it possible for her to go outside or is she sealed in – outside pics would be great too

Kindest regards and well done to all for such a fantastic job – I see a lot in common here with the Werribee Lib in Victoria – great visionary preservation

A couple of questions – are the engines fitted yet – something looks strange in the engine bays and how much of the original aircraft remains – A lot must have not been available given her state when she arrived

Hi Oscar so how does all the fuel and weight affect it in the air – do you have to transfer fuel a lot.

    Hi

It is a pity the Yank engine is going in – I suppose it will change the cowlings slightly – surely there were enough originals around to do it “properly”? – Not to be critical or negative it will still be bloody good to look at but just better

By the way I looked into the wreck on a few sites and apparently the two deceased crew are NOT on board – in case anybody was thinking that as well as me

Just for those too lazy to look up what one looks like
here it is – quite a nice big lump of a machine and well worth saving

    Hi Phill

Lucky Bugga and it is as you say the best Mag there is – tops for news and features.

A real shame the Corsair featured in it isn’t now coming downunda !!

I hope whatever he has bought to replace it is just as nice – there are some beauties in the USA

    Keep happy

Exactly as evidenced by the Mosquito Molins and the B25 cannon nose 75mm
In later days the various howitzers fitted to Spectre Ac130s and earlier the Ac47s although it has to be said that the WW11 deployments were more spectacular than effective

    High Consul

Thanks for the very interesting update – I have a more than passing interest in this Australian material and it is very pleasing to me to see someone utilising it for such a good cause.

I am very excited that the Wangaratta stuff is happening but inevitably a lot of that material will be sacrificed to produce an airworthy aircraft (4 Actually) However the project you speak of is a great little grass roots project and is at the core of what we as enthusiasts should be about and support.

I am sure he already knows but if he needs any assistance he should contact Sqn Ldr Dennis Doggett at RAAF Amberley Queensland who successfully led the team that reconstructed both the Boston and Havoc restored here recently as well as the Zero in the AWM and the Point Cook Cat as well – A very helpful and knowledgeable man on aircraft and Boston’s/Havocs.

    Kindest regards

I am led to believe that one or both of the above projects has benefitted from some parts /sections from the Point Cook collection of parts now heading to Wangarratta – there was a report in an Aus / NZ mag about some stuff going to the UK a few years ago.
