Well Seeing as you ask …………….
After watching people stuff about ( yes I know it is all very hard etc ) for 30 years on various projects – when /if anybody in the UK gets a Beaufighter flying I want to see that flying here with the Beaufort as well as in the UK with the Bolingbroke ( too much to hope they could all eventually hope to bring all 3 together?).
I am in no way denigrating the efforts that have / are being made to get one flying – just a personal frustration.
I don’t need it here permanently just for a loan ,,,,,,,,,
I would also like to see one of the Texas Oscars
One of the German Fw190’s
A P38 – any P38
An Australian finished Mosquito (New build NZ?)
One of the Blade Zero’s
These would all be nice but I am pretty happy with what will happen here over the next few years as well.
I personally think that the US and UK – particularly Duxford – are important on a Global scale and I hope they continue to grow – legislation seems to be closing in but I remain positive
Thankyou Santa

Hi
I am somewhat shocked to see that James is not eating an Australian Meat Pie – He will never grow up to be Big and Strong eating that stuff – Well he will never become Big and Strong anyway (Growing up ?)

Well Folks seeing as how I got involved in the Seafire / Meatbox stuff I thought I would get stuck in here as well.
As I like the UK scene I would suggest a few I think would add value to the UK scene on the basis of interest and rarity.
Try these
On the basis that we let it come just for a visit – The Beaufort now having the major assemblies put together here in Brisbane – it should fly around the same time as the Blenheim /Bolingbroke rebuild in the UK so I would love to see them fly together.
The Fiat G59 currently for sale here would make a great addition to your scene for a while – you really need to see it flying – it is fantastic.
A Boomerang – there are a couple for sale as projects – largely completed – they are very agile and make great airshow performers.
A Vultee Vengance – one or two are now being restored here and it would be great to see it in the UK for a while Same for their Kingfisher and one of the airworthy Bostons.
I know these are odball suggestions but why not they would attract a lot of interest and given the ability to move aircraft around why shouldn’t we contemplate worldwide movement of such machines. I went to Wanaka and the Bretling Fighters was something to see in the Mountains of NZ considering I had seen them in the UK in September 2003

Hi DGH
Given a hypothetical choice and given the Spits in the UK I would agree with your preference!!!!! Although I am still a sucker for the idea of a Seafire in RN markings.
I think that there is a little irony in the fact that the Canberra and Meatbot have both gone to the museum with the only Spitfire flying in Australian skies at present
Thanks for this thread it is interesting

Hi Albert
Absolutely – I will contact you – any beer is OK with me – I must be the only Aussie who doesn’t mind Pommie beer – I always think over chilled beer has no tasste !!!
Kindest regards
John
Hi Albert
I respect and accept your opinion.
I am not saying that it is not sad that you can’t see the Meatbox flying but I could bemoan losing
3 X Beaufighters
2 X Hudsons
6 X Spitfires
1 X Lancaster
Etc Etc
Over the years I have just learn’t to accept that our hobby / industry is global and that these aircraft are always in danger of not being there the next day from one cause or another. It is very important to support and encourage the people who are prepared to spend their money restoring and operating these aircraft and not without risk. Without the Hanna’s of this world we would all be a little poorer..
Anyway lastly it takes a lot on my part to get over there to see these things and if that’s what has to be done I do it happly we each make our own decisions about what is important and on what we spend our money and this is mine – I have a hoot and don’t regret one minute or one cent !! and I get to meet a lot of very nice Pomies and Yanks and Kiwis etc
I would like to meet you Albert and “chew the fat” over a beer” when I come over – I wll bring you some ” Meatbox ” Pics form “downunder.
I have attached a couple of images the first one is of an Aussie F8 now thankfully inside and on display at Fighter world at Williamtown RAAF base in NSW. It is seen here in it’s aerobatic team colors – The Meteorites
The second is a shot taken by a fantastic Australian photographer Glenn Alderton of Winston in her new home at Temora. Glenn has a lot of great material up on the site where i have taken this shot http://www.warbirdz.net I suggest you all might like to log on there and have a look through the fantastic high res photos – not just Australian

Hi all
Surely the point is that both Winston and the Canberra have gone to a great home with a museum that can keep them flying for as long as possible and that the Seafire will also be up and flying – this way we all get to see more old aircraft flying – I can assure you that these aircraft are very much loved and appreciated here and serve as a memorial to the types service in war – Both types were used in anger by us. I was privalaged to actually fly FAC for the Aussie Canberras in Vietnam a couple of times and I get a bit emotional every time I see her fly here.
I am also a Seafire fan and I come to the UK as often as possible – I will gladly pay good money to see her fly.
Lastly at the risk of being boring as I have stated many times – don’t bemoan the UK losing aircraft as UK museums have a fair smattering of Australian machines, This is just normal movement and we should be glad all these machines find good homes with people who are prepared to look after them.
My two bob’s worth

Hi Whalebone
I need to be very careful and polite as there are members of this site who are aware that I am about to seek entry to the UK on holiday. I would not wish to be greeted at Heathrow by a Grinning Customs officer whipping on a rubber glove and asking me to accompany him to a private room!!!
SO I will choose not to say anything further on cheating except to say that in principle I am against it – not that I ever had any principles!!

Hi Stormbird
Without being a spoiltsport can I suggest that next time you don’t include the name in the properties of each photo. That means for thoses not technicially minded when you right click and save as it is a bit of a giveaway when you hit “save as and the title of the photo pops up.
As a proper IT professional I have learn’t how to cheat professionally!!!!
