I totally agree with you guys on ‘Under An English Heaven’…I finished reading it last week and thought it was just fantastic 🙂
Another favourite of mine is ‘Bluebirds’ by Margaret Mayhew…the story of a group of WAAFs through the Second World War…not a huge amount of aviation action, but still a fabulous book…

Thank you very much guys and gals 🙂
Thank you very much guys and gals 🙂
😉 😮 🙂
And brilliant pics btw Snapper 🙂
Not the best ever airshow at Duxford but certainly far from the worse! Breitling boys really did it for me :p
Kept an eye out for scotch egg bearing forum members (didn’t get there until gone 1pm so you’d probably all buggered off somewhere else :))
Did finally meet Moggy (it was very nice to see you btw Moggy :))
Roll on Flying Legends 😎
Thank you Alastair 🙂 I hope to make it up sometime this year, so fingers crossed!

Hush Willow…the walls have ears don’t you know? :p 😉 :p

Doughnut…you might be surprised actually…:)
It looks as though the Comet is safe though fortunately…and one day I WILL get up to East Fortune to see things for myself.

~ROFLMAO~…just typical…

PeterW…asking what else we’ve got is like asking how long is a piece of string? 😉 :p
But seriously…on 35mm film we have ‘Ill Met By Moonlight’, ‘Ice Cold in Alex’, ‘I Was Monty’s Double’, ‘The Battle of the River Plate, ‘Dambusters’ of course! and ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ just to name a few
With regards to hiring, the fees charged do depend on who the screening is for e.g if it’s for veterans fees might be reduced/scrapped…
I do have a plan to try and organise another get-together at Duxford which includes a visit to our Cinema, but I need to do a bit of head scratching first! 🙂
If I don’t get back to you regarding fees, please remind me!

Snapper…outside the enclosure then? My subscription lapsed a last year, so probably not much hope of blagging my way into the enclosure…although, my parents are both Friends of Duxford so they can get in…tell you what, you hide in the picnic basket and we’ll smuggle you in…:D :p 😉
It is an excellent way of preserving history…for example, I am sure many of us have read Geoffrey Page’s ‘Tales of a Guinea Pig’ /’Shot Down in Flames’ (same book, different title) and immediately been transported into another world…but to actually listen to Geoffrey talking about his experiences is really something else…
The IWM’s Sound Archive has many many aviation gems in it’s collection which are available to the public, click on the link to search our archives:

P.S. RadioChris, sorry I cannot help you either, but I wish you well in your venture 🙂
PeterW…yes the IWM certainly does have Dambusters on film…I had it in my paws only the other day 🙂 It is a 7 reel job on 35mm, and often out on loan to cinemas, private showings etc. Let me know if you would like further details.

~Hides her nibbles~ :p
Sparky…I think there are plans for a lunchtime get-together in the Flypast enclosure…I won’t be there very early but should arrive at about 1pm…Are you not ‘working’, on Sunday btw?
