Count me in 🙂
Andy…e-mail winging it’s way to you in a sec 😉
~Trying not to laugh at Snapper~ 😉
Dez…as I said in my first post, I presume that the May dates will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of VE Day. I wasn’t working at Duxford for the 50th anniversary of VE Day, but apparently approximately 40,000 folks turned up…on the same day. Plus after the traffic “problems” in June this year, I guess the Museum is trying to avoid similar chaos next year (Methinks the IWM is dammed if it does, and damned if it doesn’t…have a two day show and get accused of having £ signs in their eyes, have a one day show and receive 100s of complaints over subsequent traffic chaos :D)
Bumping this back up to the top. It’s a lovely sunny day here at Duxford today, and as I sit here typing, I wonder if the weather was like this 60 years ago, when F/O Boulton took off from Duxford, never to return.
We will remember them.
Flood…it is playing on the computer as I type 😀 Thankfully, I have the office to myself today :p
Peter…Richard Ashton joins the IWM as Director of IWM Duxford in October, so let’s wait and see…
Setter…when do you plan on coming to Duxford? If it’s a weekend I am sure a few of us could make it for a forum meet and greet 😀
Thank you very much everyone for your input 🙂 I now have the song on mp.3 thanks to a forumite, and am now on the lookout for a copy of Robin Gibb’s album thanks to Guzzineill ~mwah mwah~ in your directions gentlemen 😉
Setter…well I’ve never seen a real live kangaroo other than on the TV…think you could squeeze one into your luggage for me? 😀
JDK…I’m more of a Marmite girl myself 😉
Indeed…:D :diablo: 😀
This reminds me of a thread we had a while back, started I think by Mark12? “What will Duxford be like in 50 years time?”
John…presumably the Whitney will be powered by a set of warbling, glass breaking and eardrum shattering engines? 😀
~Hiccups~ 😀
With a tweed covered steering wheel as well 😀 :diablo: :p
A well written and passionate piece there, Phillip. Fair play to you for having the **** to post something provocative like this. The subject matter I will refrain from commenting on, as I joined the forums as an aviation enthusiast, not as an official IWM spokesperson.
Presumably a buggy with tweed seats? 😀
Really like the Mitchell picture…very evocative 🙂
1) Which warbird was the first you saw fly?
MH434 being put through her paces by Ray Hanna
2) When was it?
Spitfire Anniversary show 1996 at Duxford
3) How did it affect you?
I now work at Duxford…that says it all I think 🙂
Guzzineil…well if you show us yours…:diablo:
