Surprised no one has come up with this so far…”Supercalifragilisticexpialdocious” 😀
(I bet this post leaves at least one of you humming the song all afternoon…ha ha!)
Many thanks for posting these Lehavre…I enjoy looking at these 🙂
BlueNoser…I will make enquiries and get back to you 🙂
Yes Trumper, Robert sometimes showed a 16mm print of “The Battle for the Battle of Britain” documentary featured on the DVD at some of his talks (where projection facilities were available) Robert had long discussions with MGM to persuade them to feature the documentary on the DVD, and finally he succeeded. In fact the last time I spoke to Robert, he had just learnt that MGM had decided to put “The Battle for the BofB” on the DVD, and he was so pleased 🙂
The origins of the other special features I do not know, perhaps someone else can shed some light?
John…I’d be more than happy to show you around Duxford 🙂
As Andy in Beds said, give us some dates and we’ll work from those 🙂

Happy Birthday 🙂
Thank you for posting these Hatton, I enjoyed looking at them 🙂 I find old RAF buildings and sites absolutely fascinating – more more run down they are, the more fascinating they become (something about them being untouched I think)
On a similar vein, I have a collection of photos of the unrestored parts of the Officers’ Mess…anyone interested?
Daz…yes, finding a home for these big models is certainly a problem – the only place big enough for my Spit is the sideboard…finding a bookcase that’s wide enough is a bit of a job (unless you fancy spending a whole wad of moolah on it…like more than you paid for the Spit) Incidentially, I do keep mine on the stand and after 18 months, it’s still there (my parents have the same Spit and display it on it’s stand with no problems)
Hope you can sort your probs out and your Spit is back looking as she should before too long 🙂
Ashley
Hmmmm…I have exactly the same Spitfire as you Daz, but it is the 3rd example of that model, as the first two were returned as they were both found to be damaged 🙁
I’m a little surprised that you would keep something like this on top of your TV though, I’m so anal about mine, that when Mr Ashley’s family come round, it gets put in it’s box where it stays until they’ve gone (With good reason I hasten to add, as one New Year’s his family came round, and one of them, who has never owned up to this, managed to snap the probe off the front of my EE Lightning…fortunately Corgi’s spares department came up trumps and I managed to fix it, but that’s another story altogether!)
I have to say, I have never stood any of mine on their wheels in case the wheels snapped, I tend to display mine “in flight” (although the covers on where the wheels should go on my Hunter are always falling off…and I mean always…I don’t even have to go any where near it and they fall off :()
Is it still £90 for a 1:32 Spit in the shop, Adam? I thought they went down in price once…I have to say, that if I didn’t have the IWM staff discount I might well baulk at paying that, but then I have seem them for sale at other Museums for similar prices.

Maybe he is currently cruising the makeup counters in Boots…
What a great thread Kev 🙂
My rainbows:
1) After a pretty abysmal year, Stuart and I are making a fresh start together in a new home. Having spent months looking for the right house and having no luck at all, we finally found a house that we can call “home”, and now have three weeks to pack up and move. After so much hassle at work and at home, I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to be making a clean break homewise, and starting another chapter in our lives together (Oi! Stop barfing you lot!) It’s all a rush now to chose and buy all our new furniture, and pack up and move, but I’m relishing every second of it (although Stuart is getting rather fed up with me reading the Argos catalogue in bed…:D)
2) Once we have settled into our home and I feel more settled in myself as a result, I can turn my attention to the various projects I have begun or have in the pipeline…including a novel set during the Canterbury Blitz and a Battle of Britain film themed forum get-together…Even if I don’t actually start writing the novel for a couple of years I enjoy researching immensely, and what better location than Duxford for me to be in to do exactly that? 🙂
Those are my two main rainbows at this time of my life 🙂

Daz…I don’t care who he plays…I could listen to him recite the telephone directory and still need a bucket of water throwing over me afterwards 😀
