Personally, I find Tom Cruise a bit of a pretty boy…I like my men manly…like Alan Rickman…
~Swoons~
Papa Lima…the “lady” in white at the back is me 🙂
Sorry I only made it to the pub guys and gals…furniture hunting took longer than planned 🙁 AND I missed the opportunity to meet Janie! Bah! 😉
Next time…next time…:D
Hope to be there sometime tomorrow…Absolutely cream crackered after long journey…not helped by the fact that Mr Ashley a) cannot drive, and b) cannot read a map to save his life…says “left” when he means “right”, holds the map the wrong way up, and falls asleep a lot…which results in me yelling “which way now?” and walloping him one with the map 😀
I have Snapper’s mobile number so I will give him a call when I arrive to find out where you all are (By the sound of it, spread all over the site) If someone is reading this tonight/tomorrow morning before going to Duxford, and Snapper hasn’t read this because he is presumably quaffing beer at the Red Lion right now, please let him know I will call.
Hope to see some of you tomorrow
Becka
P.S. Why am I posting this? You’re all probably in the Red Lion getting rat-arsed as I type, and there will be no-one to read this…Bah!
Hello guys and gals 🙂
V. short note to say hello from a rather wet and cold Devon, hope all is well with you all, looking forward to seeing some of you at Duxford on the 9th :p
Becka x
P.S. Moggy, read your PM, answer yes (probably) but definite answer would have to wait until I get back to Dux

I dare them to go out, late on the afternoon of June 5th, with a paint brush and two cans of paint, and slap on some stripes. Far more realistic.
If someone provides me with some paint and a big brush I could be persuaded 😀
Sadly Snapper, I don’t think he is…
I think it’s an excellent idea…Wonder if there is a t-shirt printing shop in Barnstaple I can find in the next couple of weeks 😀
Snapper…that picture absolutely rocks 😀 I have printed a copy out and stuck it up on my notice board :p
Sorry Mark, have just done a quick trawl of the IWM databases with the serial number and nothing 🙁
Many thanks for this Mark, a good way to spend my lunchtime 🙂
Everytime I drive along the road running along the back of the airfield I think of Neil and Bill…they won’t be forgotten. As James says, remember the good times, and I shall remember them in formation with the Gladiator, Nimrod and Sea Hurricane.

Snapper…I’m presuming from the ease at which you have rattled off names, these gentlemen are/were all 609’ers, is this correct? If so, was Donnet in 64 Squadron at anytime?
Adam…with the greatest of respect to Duxford’s no1 site transport driver ;), I think it’s not much of an improvement on the old site transport in terms of appearance and practicality. It has open windows on both sides (quite large ones too) whereas the old transport only has open windows on one side. This means with the new transport, if it’s raining/snowing/hailing/really windy etc, the passengers are going to get wetter/colder/more disgruntled. Plus, when it gets wet out of hours, the nice leather seats will get all wet, and then that would be an extra job for the driver to deal with before the first passengers arrive in the morning (I’ve been an M.A. I know how much there is to be done in the mornings, and what a rush it can be to get everything done when there are people off sick/on holiday) Plus, there only seems to be three carriages, is that right? If so, surely carrying capacity will have been reduced? Plus, it’s green! I hope it is going to be painted up at sometime as it currently looks out of place…at least it should have some Duxford logos on and perhaps a logo of a Spit (like the Duxford free bus has MH434 painted on the side)
On the plus side Adam, I can see that it must be much easier for you all to drive considering the “cab” appears to be based on a Ford Transit, which surely has to be more reliable than the old transport! 🙂
Oh dear oh dear oh dear! 😀
I think holding the raffle on the day of the meet is best (plus I’m driving 300 miles back from Devon on the Saturday, and very much doubt you’d get any thing coherent out of me other than “pass the Shiraz”, followed by “sluuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrp”, followed by “Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz” 😀
Either Merlins over Malta or the Grace Spitfire are both excellent suggestions…perhaps Merlins over Malta is a bit more topical given our reason for being there on the day (ok, one of our reasons…I’m sure reasons for being there include descending upon the Runway Cafe on masse for sausage, chips and beans, laughing at the site transport, stripping the new shop of Corgi models, DVDs and books, laughing at the new site transport, staring lovingly at spots where Susannah York appears in BofB, playing hunt the Hastings, laughing at the site transport, seeing how fast we can get Kev going (are you coming Kev?) and so on…
Oh and did I mention laugh at the site transport 😀
JDK…I hear there is a nasty cold going about at the moment…maybe it might hit your part of the country around say, the first week in May 😉 😀 :p
DHFan…it has apparently moved to the west of the AAM…I have not yet checked that, but I’ll update you when I do. Although it could be fun to play “Hunt the Hastings”…wonder what we could have as prizes…Hmmm…a family sized packet of Marmite crisps…a keg of Adnams Broadside…some peanut brittle…that should do for starters 😀
Ha ha! The Hastings has moved 😀
Count me in for the pub also 🙂
Oi! Learning Slowly! If you’re still loitering, bog off to the beach and leave the computer alone! 😉 :p 😀
