Were any of the B17 related people here responsible for the mark 3 Cortina in full Luftwaffe markings which used to be around SallyB in the mid to late 80’s????
A very interesting colour scheme I seem to remember.
I seem to recall going to a show at Lakenheath in 1987/8 ish.
Paid to get in etc but still had to watch the show through a 6′ wire fence thingy, can’t remember much about what was there but probably not a great deal other than John Jordan’s Stearman and it’s barnstorming mates.
Seeing these beasties together in one thread reminds me of the plan to form a syndicate to fly some of these around the show circuit. Anyone heard anymore on this????
Does the passenger have to rely on the pilot being out of the way before they can get out of the aircraft? I’m thinking more in an emergency situation here than in normal operation.
I’m not in a position to really argue this, however I have been shown quite a number of engineering differences between Rolls Royce and Packard during the rebuild of both types.
Some tooling between the two types is different as well.
