You obviously know very little about British Politics and Politicians 😀
Domestic and Europe are very different things 😉Maybe I can ask you a question ?How many people (as a percentage) in the original (old) member states of the EEC are really happy with the way the EU operates now.
We are now paying for poorer (and more corrupt ?) countries .
Obviously everybody is happy ???
Yes you’re right..I’ve only lived here 51 years and been a Labour activist for 22 of them (until the arrival of Blair), so what do I know of British politics and those who practice them! I eagerly await the answer to your question ref the happiness factor in the “old” member states of the EU, I would genuinely be interested in them along with the source. As for corruption? Well I don’t think we British are in any position to lecture others….do you? I am of the opinion that the argument that Domestic and Europe are very different things is not so, this is an integral part of the views held by those that, come hell or high water, will never see the European point of view nor the many benefits of EU membership.

At no time since have we had any chance to voice our displeasure at being led into a Federal Europe by our ‘leaders’.
rgds baz
I thought that was what general elections were for. 😉

And how our friend can even talk about democracy in the EU I do not understand.
I refer again to the European Parliament. More democratic I suggest than the internal UK system. This “non democratic” EU stuff does not wash, although it does if you don’t participate to the full within the Union structures and procedures, the UK seems constantly adverse to doing this and then blames all the other members who do for lauding it over the UK, you can’t have it both ways. Seriously, if the UK does not adopt a more positive stance towards the EU and the many benefits of being within it, because we only seem to hear about the negative aspects of that, then I fear the country will be on a hiding to nothing.

I totally respect your point of view. What do you perceive as the alternative to the EU, especially as many states the world over are gravitating together into regional power and trading blocs.

Frankly, considering the UKs attitude towards the EU I am amazed that there are any Brits at all in this new set up. Instead of sitting on the sidelines and constantly carping, moaning and opting out of this and that why not do as France, Germany and others have done and get stuck into this Union and make it work for the UK instead of berating the countries who have. The main reason that the EU is constantly perceived as “non democratic” is that it is constantly painted as such in the UKs “popular press” and by irresponsible politicians and “experts” who serve an agenda all their own. Does not the European Parliament exist for the purpose of overseeing the activities and policies of the EU and representing the interests of its citizens? But then again so few UK citizens get off their backsides to vote in the Euro elections that perhaps the UK has ended up with the EU it deserves. High time that the UK showed the other members that it has the confidence and capability to also be a major driving force within the Union, and you aint going to do that peering at the others through the slits in the bunker of nationalism and wistfully dreaming of times past.

Great news for Airbus and especially the A380. Flew on an Emirates example last Jan…………what a craft.
Air Provence maybe? They were a Caravelle 10B operator around that time. 🙂
Two questions Interflug.
Did you watch the programme?
Do you live in Ireland?
I am personally tired of “cheap shots” at the Irish, made by people who do not know them.
” Mikey the Pikey” “Scumbag O’Riley”SHOTS? CLEVER?I repeat-whatever MICHAEL O’LEARY is doing, he gets bums on seats!
Danke schon,es tut mir egal.
I apologise in advance to the moderator if by responding to this post I am out of line, and I will totally respect your judgement.
Did I watch the programme? Yes I watched a downloaded version as I was working when the original was screened.
Do I live in Ireland? No, although I fail to see what that has to do with it. As I stated in my previous I have worked with Aer Lingus, Aer Turas and a small Scottish airline Air Ecosse who based me in Ireland both North and Eire at different times and I have a great number of Irish friends..
I don’t like O’Leary or the way he works and it would not matter to me wether he was from Tirana or Ulan Bataar.
I detect a slight (?) anti-Irish feeling in this whole Ryanair debate. How dare an Irishman run one of the most successful airlines in the world? The fact is folks, its bums on seats, and he is DOING WELL!:diablo::diablo::diablo:
A cheap shot sir, if you don’t mind me saying so. Ryanair is one of many foreign owned/registered airlines operating in the UK, and leaving aside ones personal feelings about this “carrier” and no I’m no fan either, I’m sure that nobody on here looks at this topic through racial eyes. I worked with Aer Lingus for a summer in the late 90s and totally enjoyed working with Irish colleagues. As for Ryanair “doing well”? yes, on the back of endless deals, discounts from its plane makers and all and sundry and generally, screwing their service providers into the ground (and then having the nerve to blame THEM when there is a shortage of staff and baggage problems etc due to the lousy fees they pay), and evading the REAL costs of what they are doing by distorting the playing field for others…..yep..doin well.

I wonder whether this one will be any more telling than previous attempts  Somehow I doubt it, and it’ll all end up being another free advert for Scumbag O’Riley’s airline 😡 Oh well, I’ll probably watch it anyway! 😮
Andy
I won’t. I shall be washing my gerbils instead :p
