That is E/F style externally mounted frame and glass.
Hi wizardoftthenort thank you for your input,
when you say external mounted frame does this mean it is mounted in front of the canopy itself similar to the photo that Clint mitchel had sent on post 5 , im struggling to find a photo as yet showing the design of this windscreen that i have. as if you take a close look at photo 4 on post 4 you will see that the side of the screen is slightly different to the one on Clint Mitchels a minor detail i know but i haven’t as yet found a windsreen with this design..
Also on the top of the front screen the rounded design appears to come from the back to the front rather than the majority that curve from the front to the back, you can see this on my post 7 photos 1 2 3 4 and 6.. (but the more you look at it it does appear to be the same design as Clints photo)
again any help or photos would be as always appreciated Brad..
Would anyone have further any news or updates reference the possible of recovery of F/s Eric Williams..
An absolutely remarkable achievement to one day be able witness the Merlin engine running once again. cant wait for the day when it comes back to life.. as i have seen various stages of the rebuild.. it is truly a great piece of rebuild work by Peter and the Wings Museum.
I do believe that you can still see the engine for yourself at weekends and with the added bonus of a talk of the different stages of the rebuild including the history of the crashed aircraft itself..
Help please with relic Bf 109 front windsreen canopy..
Some more photos hope this helps..

If it’s the separate armoured glass part that bolted/screwed onto the front of the forward canopy section then it was the E series and it was sporadically fitted to all variants from early to mid 1940 onwards. A photo would help. 🙂
Thanks for your reply Clint i will try to post a photo..
Hawkinge Museum would be your best bet for sure.. as i have said before a must for anyone who hasn’t as yet visited..
Had to admit i was Gutted to miss the fly over at Detling as had planned this, camera was at the ready. but work kept me back being self employed not always a good thing..any other day never a problem agghhhhh..
But what was about to happen more than made up for it as whilst in the unit we heard a certain drone of 8 Merlins getting louder and louder, on venturing outside there they were heading over the Medway Estuary towards the Gravesend direction.
This site hit me hard as i felt a cold shudder and felt like i was back in 1940 (Kind of Ghostly) with the dark clouds in the background.
Especially as my dad was with me and said that was a site he had witnessed himself personally in 1940 as he was then 9 years old..
Very fitting tribute to a major (Hardest) day in our history..
Hi Scott,
If you get are willing to take a train 30 minutes out of London to Kent I will meet you at the station and drive you to the battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge and the memorial at Capel Le Ferne.
We could stop at Kenley and Biggin Hill on the way back.
It would need an early start though.
Gerry
Great suggestion Battle of Britain Museum Hawkinge an absolute must.. whilst there you can also take in the B.o.B Memorial a Capel.. this would be a full day out..
Hawkinge will give you that personal side to the battle of Britain.
I try and visit at least 7 times per season and still find it extremely hard to take it all in.
Enjoy your stay.
Thanks for the heads up Charliehunt. Recorder at the ready,
Any numbering on the metalwork?
Sadly know as quite corroded.
Too long ago to remember any details but try searching for Blackburn Beverly.
Hi
Many thanks for your reply.. i did see a Blackburn Beverley C Mk.1 XB261 cockpit at Newark from the outside id thought id nailed it, but after entering inside the brackets were different and the dome itself looked very slightly smaller. not to say that there may be a different version but one of the closest yet. i will keep researching the Beverley though.
Cheers.
Hi Wyvernfan
I will try this route. not to sure whether these are standard though..Cheers.
That was quick to solve. im still struggling with this one any ideas?
