    Hi All,
    hawker1966,
Excellent post very interesting seeing all the behind the scenes footage many thanks. :applause:

    Geoff.

I’m Glad you enjoyed it Geoff, certainly a lot of facts id never heard of or seen.

This is another classic the link below.

    It tells the story;

At a reunion of No. 501 Squadron at RAF Kenley, surviving Battle of Britain pilots gather to swap stories and recall the events of 1940. The Man Alive team also visit some of the squadron members at their current homes and places of work to find out whether being part of such an elite band of men has had a lasting effect on their lives. (1969)

“Always left me with a big impression that Ginger Lacy deeply missed the RAF/…..”

Sad thing im just old enough to remember the “Man alive” theme tune…

I do wish some here would quit harping on the photo ban. I’ve been to several museums…not necessarily aircraft…but art, private auto collections, etc…that have bans.

    Get over it.

Well said Mr Boyle, it does get a touch boring…

When I went I think the FSM’s just show confusion, I can understand maybe one to give an idea, but the main emphasis of the museum is original artefacts, mostly recovered ones, Plastic and replica aeroplanes I just have no interest in whatsoever. The museum just doesn’t in my opinion need these, it is successful for the original content, not large Airfix kits

I have to admit i personally like the replica Spitfire/Hurricane aircraft.as wasnt these in the 1969 “Battle of Britain” feature film please correct me if im wrong.

To me they give a good feel to this particular hanger, but as always just my opinion…….

Brad – further digging through the technical manuals – has this drawing of the desk of a C2.

I think that this is pretty damn close..

The only thing missing s the 4th dial – Wannenbehalter inhale.

Overlaid on photoshop and perfect match..

Looks pretty good to me, like you say just that one dial missing. maybe a modification of some sort. if you haven’t cracked it completely,: im sure your not to far away. but i think you have.

Hi just heard this from one of the organizers of the Benzetts first aero jumble to me great news, well done to all those who attended….

‘The first aerojumble at Brenzett was a success as far as the ‘hosts’ at the museum were concerned and I am pleased to say that there are plans to continue with it. There are already plans to run the next event in April 2015, and thereafter annually during April.

Whilst the gate was a little disappointing this needs to be viewed in conjunction with the following facts: (a) it was a ‘first’ event (b) it was at an untried venue, and, (c) the September sales (when we used to run an event in March and September) were always significantly slower.

The overwhelming majority of traders were happy with the event and have already indicated they will come back if the event continues. Whilst some traders report business as slow, one trader who normally takes about £650 managed to take well over £1,300.

As to the marquee, the perception was that it was a tad empty. However, we only ever book a marquee to suit the bookings as the hire cost is simply too eye watering to book a marquee that exceeds our requirements! The situation, though, is as follows. First, selling stalls down the middle row is always difficult with traders preferences to be against the marquee wall. As it happened, seven of the middle row stalls elected to go outside because it was a nice day and there were four empty stall spaces around the edges simply because three were ‘no-shows’ (despite having paid) and one re-located to the centre row for more room. In total, we had eighteen stalls outside the marque and, overall, five more stalls booked than at the last Shoreham! The quality and mix of goods seemed really good to me – but it depends what one is looking for, of course. For my part, I picked up a Messerschmitt 109 E wheel and tyre and some stunningly rare books. Stuff was there if you looked for it.

All in all, I think the event and venue both have potential to develop and prosper and I hope it continues to be supported.

As for the future, my intention is pretty much to hand the event over to the Brenzett Museum and most agreed it was a cracking venue. Despite perceptions, it is really easy to get to – only twenty minutes from the M20! Having taken over the editorship of ‘Britain at War’, plus other work and currently some time consuming family commitments, means that I no longer have time to devote to running the event but I will continue to be associated with it for the foreseeable future. I will continue to have input and to advise and assist, and the event will be run as per the Shoreham model.

I hope it continues to have a life and that it will be well supported’.

    Kind regards

Seemed quiet with a lot of gaps – But I managed to get a few pieces – a small Ju87 elevator section, P51 blast tube, Lancaster rudder trim tab section and bomb shackle, Small lat mark spitfire section, reference book as well as picking up some pre arranged pieces – a Vampire wheel spat and a 1941 Ministry of Air Production ( de Havilland ?) desk chair with nice crown markings.

I also acquired a very nice replacement 1899 Japanese cavalry sword to replace the one that my son bent on a watermelon.

I was tempted by the Halifax chair but the price and the crack on the base made me think twice – thank you for buying it hawker 1966 as I was tempted.

Frazzled as the return trip to Cumbria Via Cardiff took all day!

Your a Gem for making such a long journey, Glad you made some good purchases as this is what its all about. well done mate..

    Cumbria well done…

I did hear a rumour that there may be a aerojumble happening at a the aviation museum near Tilbury next year, cannot for the life of me remember who told me but cannot find any confirmation. sounds a good place as its in the middle of whats happening Sarff and Norfff.

Wish I had gone, sounds like a bargain that mid upper, any ideas of piccys of condition???

The turret was in good overall condition, just a few pieces of perspex missing. hopefully someone may have some photos..

It was down on previous events but I have never yet attended one and come back empty handed. The site has excellent scope and those that enjoy rummaging about for parts should support it. Much more fun and productive than eBay. Andy still continues to run the best aero jumble down south and maybe we need to bare with it while the dust settles. With the Halifax seat and Lanc turret and a number of fast jet sticks about it still offered a number of treasures. Also an original Stuka panel.

Couldn’t agree more with the above, (as Brenzett had its first airing) i was pleasantly surprised how many stall holders there were, considering it was Brenzetts first time of holding the event.

As i have previously stated these events must be supported otherwise they are to be lost from the calender, lets hope it was successful for the organizers who put so much time and effort into this type of event,i for one will be there for the next event.

I missed the Stuka panel anyone purchase it if so any photos?

There was also a nice Hurricane grip with Gun button up for a reasonably £650..

Came away very happy, as took a chance on a Halifax chair, confirmed to be a radio operators. did well also on some Robert Taylor prints.

I would of said there was a good number of stalls, with a fair few outside also….

    Had a Great Day personally….

I have read criticism of the staff before but in all my visits I have never found the volunteers anything less than friendly and courteous.

Now if visitors try to make a fuss about the prohibition then of course ……..:)

Couldn’t agree more Charliehunt,The Museums Staff are some of the most courteous i have met of all the museums that i have visited, and trust me i have done a few.. its just a shame that whenever the Kent battle of Britain museum is mentioned the same old subject appears, its just a pitty that more isn’t mentioned as to how far this museum has come, and is heading in an ever improving direction.

I for one (respect) the Museums policy, just think to yourself the reasoning behind the ban. its not there to purposely wind people up im sure…

Thanks for the info everyone, I wonder if car boot space is allowed as I fancy selling some stuff but font have enough to justify a table? I may give the organisers a call.

What i can remember from the previous Shoreham aero jumbles there were cars selling from there boots, perhaps a phone call on the yellow leaflet above could confirm this..
