I for one do enjoy the film in the B.O.B. hall, yes agreed it may interrupt the viewing of these historic aircraft, but at the same time dosnt the film in its current format tell story of the Battle to its full potential, what can be better than having the likes of the Spitfire Hurricane Me 109 and the Heinkel 111 in the background whilst being illuminated in there different stages of combat and bombing, whilst the story unfolds.(especially for the younger generations to learn.. )

Many a time like my visit today, you here people at the end of the films discussing how much they had enjoyed the showing of this film.. (love the sound of the 2 Merlin engines at the films climax)

By having the film shown separately (from the hall) wouldn’t this take away the atmosphere and the closeness of these aircraft?

I guess you could always have a look round the other parts of the museum whilst the film is in progress, then return.

Just my opinion…

Good to hear, I was debating on whether to go or not and needed some reassurance that it will be well stocked with stalls. Would be good to hear from the organisers on how things are getting on with opening times etc…any one know about entrance fees and if early tickets are available?

Hi Runway06,

The aerojumbles gates open at 10.00 AM and i im sure there are early bird passes.

Admission will be £6.00 for adults and children enter free, (The price includes admission to the museum)

There will also be some all day refreshments.

You can surf the net for further details..

I have to admit i love the Raf museum as it is, and spend many a Saturday visiting for me a Great museum, the only tiny fault for me personally is id like to see a few more relics on show,as these i feel tell the personal side of the aviation war fair.

But that’s just my personal opinion..

The part number starting 211 presumably signifies a Jumo 211 engine.

This has got to be a fluid connection. It looks quite a large bore so at a guess it will be a coolant hose connection (rather than an oil connection). How big is the bore?

Hi creaking door
The bore is just under 3″ inches across thank you for your input.

Hi Rocketeer

Just came across this post as i have acquired a few relic boards from the Blake Hall Museum, and would be very interested to see some photos if you still have them.

Also does anyone know if the Debach Museum is still open

Debach Museum is definitely open and thriving as I was there last week. They have a strong team, led by Richard Taylor, who meet weekly on a Wednesday. The team have achieved a great deal in the last 10 years and is well worth a visit. Check out their website.

Thanks for the info i will try to get there before the years
out.

It is a long way for the Northern boys granted but if its easier for sellers from the continent to attend and bring in some new stock to the scene then it may be worth the trip down. At the end of the day lets suck it and see if it’s a success or not. I certainly hope it will be.

Good comment, Who knows what may turn up.

Wow! You sound really keen, are you already there camping outside?
Seriously I wish the new event well and will be there myself however I won’t be turning my attention to it until the week before. As Andy has already posted some replies to threads in the past couple of weeks I hope he keeps us updated on the progress of this event similar to the other aerojumbles he has organised in the past. The more publicity the better.

Another reason to plug this so early is to get the word round,as i love these aerojumbles and the more people you can get to attend the better, as we don’t want to lose such a great day in the calender, the more the merry a.
Good luck to the organizers.

Interesting thanks for this good idea, will have to look into this and make a day of the local area.

Hawkinge Museum also not miles away, back on the M20 Dover bound and around 20 to 25 mins away, another great museum although you may need some 3 hours plus to get round,if your a Battle of Britain fan..

Hi reference the above im still trying to i.d. this tank relic,Ive just come across these photos and to me looks a good possibility what do you think?
These photos are from a Stuka dive bomber and appears to be possibly part of the oil cooler tank, just behind the prop.these were mainly fitted to the Ju87D (Jumo Engine 211J/211P)
Would anyone have any photo sources of an oil cooler so i can either confirm or cross of my list for the i.d. of this particular relic.
Any help as always would be appreciated.

Hi there,

The clue for me was the 27A/3861 Section/Reference number. This number refers to Section 27A of RAF Air Publication AP1086, which is the vocabulary of stores. Section 27A is for wheel equipment other than Dunlop.

The second part of the 27A number, in this case 3861, refers directly to the wheel in question. Looking up reference number 3861 in section 27A comes up with the following:

And as can be seen the listing is for Skeeter Mark 6

Hope that clarifies!

Regards

Dave

Many thanks Dave, that has now cleared up the mystery tail wheel, many thanks as always to everyone’s reply’s.

The wheel is for Mark 6 Skeeter Main and Nose with a Palmer p/n of 922B, reference AP1086 Section 27A amended to AL206 19th Dec 1964.

Sad to think how many of these types of ‘finds’ would be considered worthless junk by most and get melted down for scrap. Congrats on trying to repurpose and getting these old wheels back into the marketplace. I recently found a stack of ultralight carbs in a barn i’m going to list on ebay and get into the right hands.

Thanks “crazed pilot” to me this all partial of being a collector, as theirs nothing better than buying an unidentified item and trying to research either its history or identity. as this gives it a purpose and hopefully reach the hands of the right collector.

Still not yet positively identified as yet,but will keep going until i reach a conclusion.
