because Alitalia have just months to live and AF have already said that if Alitalias finances were good they’d merge them into the Air France-KLM group immediately because there would be signifiacnt financial gains. this picture could be the foundations of Alitalias successor
Surely IF it was to happen, the European anti monopoly commision or what ever its called wouldnt be to happy about it…3 airlines merged, a bit anti competitive
What…no deep fried mars bars on the menu for lunch?

I had the same meal recently with FCA, mine was blomin awful, the mash was loaded with cheese and the whole cabin stunk. The gravy was like water, was the foulest meal I have ever tasted.
Al goes down to how it’s been prepared and cooked I guess.
being a fully qualified chef, i can appreciate the difficulties in preparing food and i guess no meal will be the same. The trick is to keep it simple, dont over complicate matters. People eat with there eyes, you can dish up the worlds worst meal, but properly presented it will look like a million $…then you can have the worlds finest foie gras and caviar, and not properly presented it will look like somthing the dog has vomited up.
i dont want to see a tiny piece of chicken with chasseur (sp?) sauce crammed with all the vegetables you can find. One vege should be sufficient, like carrotts or swede, keep away from cauli and broc, cause these just degenerate into a mush, i know space and time contraints play a big part in whats served, it wouldnt take up much space to provide fresh sliced fruit as an alternative, or like an Alaskan Airlines flight i took a few years back, a hot sandwich, served with a choice of salads and fresh fruit or cookies for dessert.
Sorry for the rant
worst meal i had was on a Air UK Leisure Fokker 100……fish and chips, with mushy peas, it was just a soggy mess, pulled the foil lid off, took one look and pushed it aside, the stewardess came back and asked if my meal was alright, and i said to her pointing to it “would you eat that”, then she whispered in my ear, there was no way she would eat that, because it’s “Bloody Awful”
slight change of topic….but are American Airlines 777’s RR powered?
Interesting….. One of the best airline meals i had was back in March, on a First Choice A321 from Turin back to Stansted, Mashed potatoes with Sausages and a caramelised red onion gravy….absolutly superb, the mash was light and fluffy (real potato to) the sausages were cooked to perfection, not burnt or shrivelled up, and the gravy was just awesome, nice a sweet and the right consistancy…well worth the extra tenner we paid for it.
ok…..an International Aero Engine powered A321, which is a joint venture between Rolls Royce,Pratt and Whitney and MTU, i just neglected to mention the other 2 companys ;o)
you cant beat a Roller powered A321……
slightly off topic…but down at Gatwick last wednesday, and all flights from Rhodes arriving back was subject to a 3hr delay, due to it being a change over day….looks like it is going to be a long summer
thanks for the info! :o)
Is it any wonder that WW plans to tackle Waterside. Can you believe that there are 3,500 staff there? You could run America on that number of Staff! WW is there to do a job,so he’s doing it!
I remember reading a quote from either Michael O’Leary or Stelios, that there are far to many middle managers at BA’s Waterside HQ sipping Cafe Latte’s and not working, and thats why BA wouldnt survive as an airline
It has been parked up at the Harrods Terminal at Luton for the last week, but it wasnt there at 4am this morning.
also at Luton this week for a few days was a State of Kuwait A319 parked up in the bizjet section
Are you employed at BA?
If not, I think you’re being highly insensitive to those that are.Walsh is going to diminish the BA brand into nothing more than a tacky airline like he did with EI. Just a shell of its former self.
I’m just airing my own opinion on the subject, which is what a “discussion” forum is all about, i will feel sorry for those people who could potentially lose there jobs, what hasnt been said is if those jobs will come through natural wastage (Retirement etc) or will be on a last in first out basis. BA is adopting to the ever changing market condintions in the airline setor very well, Unlike other carriers that have gone or slowing sinking in debt because they couldnt or wouldnt restructure like Swissair,Alitalia,Sabena,United, should i continue??
If BA didnt take the hard descisions it would have potentially gone bankrupt leaving it to us the taxpayer to bail out, and the job cuts would be more severe.
As for walsh turning EI into a tacky airline…well he couldnt do any worse at BA than Bob Ayling could he?
i read the daily mail financial story on Willie Walsh, and i must say i do like his attitude, cutting down on the duplicated jobs at waterside, and reforming the short haul business in to a LCC and getting rid of club Europe on the Paris,Amsterdamn and i think Frankfurt so it can compete against the likes of Ryanair and Easyjet.
i also like the quote in the mail saying that under Willie Walsh, Rod Eddingtons future size and shape policy that incl 13000 job cuts will seem like a golden era
