    Here are some in-flight photos of Bob Williams new PT-22. The photos were shot Saturday by Bob’s son Dan Williams, from the back of the T-6.

    The more I’m around this plane the more I like it. I can see why Peter is having so much fun with his at Old Warden.

    I’m not sure if I would include Cri-Cri on my resume. Don’t you need one of those little remote control boxes with the long antenna to fly the thing?

    The forum is a nice mix of pilots, mechanics, restorers, historians, authors (all the English are published authors), photographers and enthusiasts. Well, we’re all enthusiats or we wouldn’t be here. Ask a question and I’m sure you’ll get an answer. No promises how good it will be, but you’ll get an answer.

    Personally I’m building a Spitfire from spare parts I pick up on my visits to the UK. Only 374 more trips to Legends and I’ll be there.

    Mark Clark and Courtesy are the biggest warbird brokers out there. You should also consider looking at restoration facilities such as Ezell Aviation, Square One Aviation, and American Aero Services, just to name a few.

    Are you talking about restoring a plane from scratch, buying a partial restoration and having it finished, or buying a completed airplane?

    Just a little over a week before James and I meet up at Oshkosh (as well as Mk 5). Remember James, don’t eat that damn full English Breakfast before we go flying. I’ve only got a couple of those “little bags” in the back seat.

    OK, I claim the prize for “1st to Depart for Legends”. Of course, if the traffic is as bad as projected this may not be soon enough.

    Mrs. Patterson and I are off tomorrow morning for Heathrow. I had to break the news to her this evening that a rain coat (or any coat) might be in order. You won’t have any trouble finding us at Legends, as we’re the bright red couple that got too much sun at the Lake of the Ozarks this weekend (After having a wonderful 4th of July and saying nasty things about the British, like “No Taxation without Representation”). Wonderful Holiday. We threw some tea in the Lake in your honor.

    Oh, if any of you say ANYTHING to my wife about Hurricanes or Spitfires, I’ll have to hurt you. Remember, Steve’s a sensible sort of person who wouldn’t dream of buying another old smelly airplane. Got it???

    I hope to be going on the Sunday and to Snapper’s ‘do’. I have a favour ton ask though. Would anyone out there be kind enough to give me a hand please. I was hoping to manage with my crutches but fear I will need the wheelchair instead. Looking forward to meeting up with people again.

    Absolutely horrible! I just hate it when large orange arrowheads drop from the sky! Shameful!!!! Something should be done, for pete’s sake, it could have hit the Lanc!

    Mark,

    No arguement about the fact it is bad to fly with the struts down, but I also don’t know anything about the photo. Was it taken after the airplane had been sitting for a period of time and the seals leaked down? Maybe during an engine ground run?

    Again, I’m not a Spit pilot, but on the other aircraft I fly we use the 3-4 fingers method to check for strut inflation. If any pilot flew her with the struts completly down I bet he never did it again. Just like an old truck with a worn out suspension!

    Just a couple of points…

    Even though we’re Americans, we do know not to fly airplanes with the struts deflated. Having just spoke to one of the pilots who flies this airplane for LSFM the Spitfire’s struts are filled (not overfilled) to the proper level and checked before every flight. The are not overfilled, as this tends to make the plane very “stiff”, however the p-factor from the Merlin will occasionally compress a strut completly on takeoff.

    As I have not flown a Spitfire (yet!!!) I’m afraid I can add nothing further to this debate, but I’m confident the Spit is not being flown with no nitrogen in the struts.

    Dear Mrs. Moggy,

    Thank you for your kind offer, and sorry for my delay in responding as I’ve been at an airshow for a few days and away from the computer. I discourage my wife, Allison, from viewing the flypast forum, especially while I’m away, after the unfortunate experiences during my visit in May. After reviewing the photos from that trip you’d have thought all your husband and I did was down pints at the local. I’ll have you know we did lots of other stuff. We, umm, well…something about Spitfire and Kent and downing the Luftwaffe, or give the kid a Broadside? Abbott and Monks? India Speckled Ale ring a bell? Oh, never mind.

    As for our trip, we’ll be over for a week, arriving the Wed. before Leg-ends. We’re staying in Bedfordshire near Andy and Mrs. Andy in Beds, who I believe you met at Old Warden. I’ll send a PM with the girls email addresses so you can discuss meeting up with Allison and Vanessa and doing “girl stuff”. Whatever else I know we will all be at Duxford on Saturday (traffic permitting) and that Sunday will just be “the boys”.

    Ok Guys,

    This till does’nt answer my firt question, Chris Danny did’nt misjudge his hieght he caught a Micro-shear at the bottom of the loop and for the record he had about 50 feet of clearance more then the Su. pilot did.

    Here in the States if you fly Acro in a Warbird you must have a Low Leavel Waiver and get a ACE ride every six months.

    As for the Female pilot getting killed in a Dusk Ribbon cut I’ll check with ICAS and get back to you.

    I still don’t see why peolpe are not hopping mad over this IDIOTS stunt Hell he was flying right at the crowd what would have happen if he took a Hick-Up and touch water. I’ll tell you a lot of people would have been either hurt of killed. Like I said this would never fly here in the States, but I quess the EU lets you do anything stupid.

    I (almost) don’t know where to begin, but don’t worry, I’ll try…

    1. “Caught a micro-shear (whatever that’s supposed to be) at the bottom of a loop”. Why don’t we just say pilot error. Period. If the airplane hits the ground (or goes lower than the pilot intended) it’s pilot error, unless of course you’re suggesting a mechanical problem caused this. Caught a micro-shear is a Bullsh*t answer, and any pilot who has ever flown acro knows it. What sort of micro-shear is it supposed to be? Wake turbulence? A Thunderstorm in the area, perhaps? Give me a break.

    2. You do not need any special license or card to perform acro in a warbird in the US. If you want to fly acro in waivered airspace, you do need an aerobatic competency card, which is issued by an ACE (Aerobatic Competency Evaluator), or a Warbird ACE from EAA. BTW, recurrency is every year, not six months.

    3. As for your last comments, well I think it was a stupid stunt given the proximity of the crowd and the circular approach he had to take on the bridge. But you loose all credibility with your “Wouldn’t happen here in the good ‘ole US of A (insert sound of popping cap and chugging a brewski).

    Now, before you attack me, let me make a few last comments.

    1. I know you’re passionate about warbirds, but in following your threads for the last several months you tend to get many facts wrong, maybe in a rush to post (it also doesn’t do your spelling any favors). The problem is that you do tend to bill yourself as something of an expert, so I would advise caution and a review of your facts. And…

    2. Lighten up, dude! This wrapping yourself in the flag thing is getting old. I’m as patriotic as the next Yank (although my family wore grey and we call it the War between the States), but you just can’t go around bashing an entire continent, country, or region because someone did something bonehead. And then to make a statement like “well, that would never happen here” just goes to show how little you know. We both know that stuff EXACTLY like this has happened here. Not without repercussions, but it has happened.

    So, slow down, take a breath, and quit poking the foreigners.
