Steve,Those shots are great!!!
In an earlier post on the other thread, you mentioned that you would also have your video camera with you. Did you manage to get any video footage?
If so, I would very much like a copy if at all poss. I would also like to send a copy to the Vets of No. 804 Squadron. They have been following this rebuild with great interest and I have been updating them throughout. I would cover all the costs of duplication and shipping.
If you are able to do that, it would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately the video is not the best. I had a backseater in the L-39 who I gave my digital camcorder to record the first flight, while I shot the hi-res stills with my Canon D-60. As it was his first time with the camcorder some of the shots are, well, pretty bouncy. I’m putting it in the computer to edit out some of the “pan the sky and try to find an airplane” stuff. The takeoffs and landings are pretty good. The fly-bys are not the best.
As MK. 12 pointed out I was on the ground taking still photos for the first flight. Nelson Ezell flew the Seafire, Stew Dawson flew the Sea Fury and a very nice A&P “Steve” who works for Nelson was in the back of the Sea Fury. I was in the back seat of the Sea Fury for the second flight with a small Canon digital still camera (3 megapix, so the quality isn’t quite the same). I did take a few short “videos” of the Seafire in flight during the second hop. If anyone can post these I will send them along via email, as I have no clue how to post them to a URL. There are 2 or 3 about 15 sec. each and around 1.5 meg. The slow shutter speed really makes the counter rotating props look wild.
I’ll be at Old Warden next month on the 15th, so if anyone wants a CD just PM me and I’ll bring you the hi-res stuff.
Quote of the day from Nelson Ezell during the first flight (as heard on the radio)…”Just like flying a jet…”

Nice shot of Stew Dawson rolling out in the Sea Fury.
and another…
Another formation shot of Stew in the Sea Fury and Nelson in the Seafire…
Here’s a better shot of the first take off. I only took about 200 photos, so it’s taking awhile to work through the best stuff.
I’m working on it, Dave. Believe me, I can’t wait.
Here’s a shot for the purists in the group, with a close up insert of the blade info.
As original blades are made of unobtainium I think this works. I sure can’t tell the difference at a glance.
Oh, Eddie was talking about THIS N number. I didn’t even notice, as it’s only painted on one side.
I think this is just a temporary thing for the first 5 hours of flight test before final certification.
Nice tail hook, eh?
I just kinda liked this view…
And another one, for those race fans keeping stats…
For the serious engine people…
Here’s one for you Griffon engine fans…

Mark – do you know if the registration is painted on the tail, or is it just stuck on vinyl letters?I think it looks surprisingly in-keeping with the rest of the scheme, but if it’s not painted yet, maybe you could persuade them to do it in an authentic RN typeface 😉
Looks like paint. The FAA allows warbirds to have 2″ high registration numbers, instead of the normal billboard size. NX stands for “experimental”
Can’t make it this year. See you at Oshkosh Brad.

“Southern Cross” had to watch from the hanger today. Should have the gear rebuilt within the next few days.
Thanks to everyone at Ezell Aviation for a great day. You guys are a class act, and I wouldn’t want anyone else working on my plane.
