Looking at the layout of the TBCCE, I got a question to all of you: Why this relatively big distance between the Turbine and the Ramjet?

I am guessing airflow to make the dual propulsion work properly is more of a concern than space.

you posted video with big smoke and big flame takeoff and that was empty aircraft. Rafale engine is not that advanced. no signature management.

Give us an example of good signature management.

If we are doing crazy what ifs.

What if Northrop won LWF and the JSF program had to design a successor to the Cobra instead of the Viper?

What are the SK concerns re: FTA?

Fedaykin — thanks for these details. Actually I think France should have bought Hornet for MN, which is not to exclude Rafale for MN also.

Just people who don’t very much like america kicking up a fuss. They couldn’t stop the FTA so they are probably hostile to major US deals.

    How patronizing… *Sigh*.

South Korea will purchase an aircraft (American) for political concerns, simple as. However, the F-15 is the best choice anyway when one considers commonality in a wide field of areas; local factories, weapons, training, ‘know-how’, familiarization and the integration to their network. It (not necessarily talking about the “Silent Eagle” since it isn’t flying yet) is more established than Typhoon and certainly more established than the F-35 regarding operational capabilities. But, I’m sure South Korea will follow Japan’s decision despite what Slowman/InternationalPirate claims.

One will have to see next month.

Seeing how much fuss other countries have over the F-35 I can easily imagine a (manufactured or not) firestorm. Honestly the EF is the least controversial decision and plus with the KF-X investment it can be defended as patriotic and opposition as unpatriotic. I can see the anti american FTA people getting up in arms (if only to screw something up because they couldn’t last time) and really have you seen how our politicians go at each other?

Overall I think the Boeing bid is best overall and while I don’t think the F-35 is a bad fighter it just has too much uncertainty.

I have to admit I think it is a rather strange approach. The Koreans want to have internal carriage on later blocks, while initially conformal carriage is planned. If the airframe is designed from the outset to accomodate weapon bays, why go for the equally complex speration systems first ? The airframe would have all the added structural weight without it’s benefits.

Probably to accommodate time/Indonesian requirements. And who knows how many the first aircraft the initial Blk will be. Maybe we will pass along some of the first planes to Indonesia and replace them with new Blk 2 for us.
Bold is a good point. I can only think of the F-CK-1 as a fighter with conformal BVRAAM missiles on the body, do you have a good example of the hardships of designing conformal weapons?

Sorry problem is probably because of i used the wrong (representational) word when i posted this picture and you are correct English is not my mother language. I saw that picture at an Turkish aviation forum and only wanted to share with you. The guy who posted it at the Turkish aviation forum claims it has been taken from an CD which is probably taken during this conference. Sorry its my fault 😮
