You could go from STN for £84 on Malev 737

Stansted is simply too far away for me. By the time I had used public transport getting there, I’d be out of pocket compared to getting to Heathrow and flying from there instead.

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

If you look at the British Airways hangars at London Heathrow Airport, you’ll always see two, three or even four 747s sat there, doing nothing!

I do believe that all of their high density routes are operated by 747s or 777s. And with the number of flights that BA operates to European cities (like Lisbon), there is little point operating 747s on them.

I have used this seller many times. His user ID is ‘giovolvo’ and he seems to dispatch by First Class post the day after payment is received.

    Excellent service.

British Airways have more than enough 747s to go around. It is very unlikely that it will affect other flights regularly operated by this aircraft.

I really like that British Airways 737-400 – that’s on my wish list. When one crops up at the right price, I’ll buy it.

Anyway, got a model in the post this morning from ebay. I needed a Thai A330 to complete the Thai Airways fleet and for £14.99, I got one. See the photo below.

There is one thing that annoys me with ebay and that is the delivery times of models. I won this Thai model on Monday night and got it on Wednesday morning after paying for it straight away. Postage was £2.

However, I also won a United 747-100 for a mere £4.04 a few weeks ago. I paid for it within seconds on the auction ending. Despite me paying straight away, the seller has been incredibly awkward in dispatching the item. After winning it 2 and a half weeks ago, I’m still waiting!

Still got my East Midlands 777-300 (1/500) in the post from New Zealand, as well as that United 747-100, wherever it is! 😡

    Right, here’s my attempt… :p

The Heathrow traffic is very easy to identify. It’s the aircraft that obviously fly over my house at a few thousand feet. Aircraft pass over right in front of the house, bound for 9L or 9R at Heathrow. Occasionally, they will also fly behind the house, make a right turn over the house, then join the approach for the airport. When aircraft depart from the 27s, we do see a lot of traffic over us.

It takes, like A330Crazy, between 5 and 7 minutes from the moment an aircraft passes to moment it touches down at London Heathrow.

I’m not sure of the other traffic though. We get lots of high altitude action, generally flying westbound. Mostly heavies, but too high for to identify the airline.

Also, the red line is smaller aircraft flying south/southeast at high altitude. Again, too high for me to figure out what it is though.

    An airport with viewing facilities?!

I’m very tempted to book up for a day trip in the coming weeks.

An Air Scotland service to Alicante was cancelled on Thursday evening from Glasgow, operating via Edinburgh.

I’ve said it before and I say it again. I am convinced that Qatar Airways are only around the corner from joining the Star Alliance.

It seems that Star is becoming bigger and certainly a great deal better than the likes of SkyTeam and oneworld.

    Excellent stuff :p

You even snapped the 757-236 of British Airways G-CPED. As I regularly say: “I been on that!”

Yes I was directly involved in this! My Dad and I were at EDI this morning for a 07.05 departure to BHX. All was fine until a BA Captain from a flight to LGW came on the public speaker and announced to the whole departure lounge that all BA services were delayed indefinitley. Then one after another flights got cancelled, the 6am KL flight was very lucky, just getting off the ground before the grounding!
So, as this was only a day trip to the motor show, naturally we were sh!tting it!
The first LHR flight boarded at about 8am even though the current time of departure was 11am at the earliest! THis was in hope of catching an earlier slot.
Then, completely taking the ****, the first flgiht to depart since the ground ing was….a BA flight to BHX!! We could have been booked on that!!
However, in the end it worked out ok, we departed at about 08.30, about 1.5 hrs late, it could have been much worse…..
    Trip report is iminent. 😀

We found at London Heathrow that airlines were still cancelling services after the problem was fixed. I know bmi cancelled at least one domestic flight after the system was up and running again.

I’m still trying to sort my photos.

I hope this one shows up. It’s 600kb, so I’m sorry to those of you (like me) that are still relying on 56k internet connections! 🙁

…bugger, didn’t work! I’ll shrink it and try again! 😮
