RE: Airliner World – old news?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-11-02 AT 09:31 PM (GMT)]TRAVOLTA’S WORLD TOUR
Celebrated film star John Travolta has just completed a world tour with his B707 in Qantas livery

First off, that page doesn’t actually say any of it is ‘news’. It’s merely features that may be of interest. Perhaps they could have re-phrased it by saying “recently completed” but they didn’t.

Regardless of how they tell us about the article, it’s still an interesting topic and probably one that many can’t wait for. If it bothers you, don’t read the magazine – probably the only solution.

RE: Who is bigger? Ryanair or EasyJet

I wrote about easyJet a few months back and Ryanair were the bigger of the two but with 120 A320s on order and the taking over of Go-Fly, I don’t think it will be long before easyJet climb to the top.

RE: And the worst songs this year?

I like the Ketchup Song and think the Manic Street Preachers are great – I’m going to see them at Wembley next month.

I do dislike all these manufactured bands i.e. the now “defunct” Hear’say and Will Young, Gareth Gates etc.

With bands like Westlife, even though I’m not a fan, give them credit, they have been around for quite some time.

RE: BAA Fire staff to strike?

Thank god, I’m back at last. Stupid NTL had some problems and I couldnt get onto most websites.

My mum was convinced this was going to interrupt our plans next week to go to New York but I told her they just couldn’t go on strike and give little more than a week’s notice!

I can’t see it happening – it would mean the closure of 7 airports including Heathrow, one of the busiest in the world with flights from every corner of the globe, taking people home and bringing people into the UK to spend Christmas. I reckon that at the last possible minute, action will be taken and the strike will be averted. Firemen put their life on the line for us and deserve a raise, but I do think they should be civil and not do what they’re doing. I do however believe that the 40% rise that they want is a little too much to expect.

Interesting stuff there A330,

On my recent trip to Wales, we passed Swansea airport, it’s very small and parked up on at the tiny terminal/hanger thingy-ma-jiggy was a Shorts 360.. and outside the airport was a banner promoting flights from Swansea to Cork and Jersey etc for £99.

RE: Pic Of The Day-Yep, thats Russian!

Here’s what the photographer says about it: “Interior shot of a KrasAir Tu-204-100 named “Vasiliy Surikov.” Notice how the seats fold forward to provide added room if nobody is sitting in front of you”.

How can that give more room? It can obviously settle the minds of anybody suffering from chlostophobia (sorry about the spelling) as there is more room to see up front, but I can’t see how it offers leg room as the bottom of the seat is still there, therefore still crushing the legs of the passengers!! And you can hardly put your feet up can you?

RE: Sixth terminal for Heathrow?

Heathrow used to be a Hamlet.. but now, it’s non-existent because when Terminal 3 went up, it was flattened and the small town of Heathrow was built upon.

I thought that building extra runways at Stansted was going to reduce the air traffic at Heathrow by up to 40%. This is just yet another reason to accept lots more aircraft each week! I wasn’t too sure on the terminal 5 idea but terminal 6 now as well..??!

Here’s the Tupolev 204 (Kras Air) from the inside and the same aircraft from the outside.

Probably the only Russian aircraft I like.

RE: FIRST SCOTTISH NO FRILLS AIRLINE LAUNCHED

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-11-02 AT 09:08 PM (GMT)]I can’t understand why some people are so negative towards lo-cost carriers. In my opinion, it’s going to be the future of air travel – easyJet have made it big and by taking over “Go Fly”, they are going to make it even bigger.

Surely there are not too many people who would quite happily pay a higher price than they have to.. are there??

I think it’s a good thing. Lo-costs don’t operate from all airports and to have them at as many as possible is a good thing – a wider variety of flight available to us (the passengers) and the chance for the entire nation to fly for a fraction of the price.

But why oh why have they called themselves FlyGlobeSpan? They fly to four or five destinations in Europe – hardly spanning the globe!

RE: National Airlines out of business!

Sad news..

Where did you get that letter from Kabir – it’s quite interesting. I think they were a bit harsh with the uniform and name badge malarky. Threatening legal action if they were not returned. It’s not as if National Airlines are going to have any use for them now!
